Albums split, songs missing, song info not displayed

Hello, after updating to v3, my library turned to disaster.

1. Many albums got split in two, though tags are the same.

2. A lot of songs disappeared. I unchecked "ignore short tracks" and they appeared, but still unlisteneable.

3. I've found a lot of tracks in "unknown album" directory, and this really is a mystery

With Poweramp v2 I've had none of the problems

The use of the album artist tag changed. See Settings > Library > Lists and search the forums, that has been extensively discussed.

2 and 3 will be related to tag reading, and/or files where the tags might not be 100% standard (there are lots of variations on ID3 tags out in the wild).

Is there anything in common about the files for which the tags are not read (which could cause the time to misread too, hence the issue with 'short' songs being ignored).

If it is repeatable for any given file, perhaps you could upload a few samples via Dropbox or similar for checking?

The problem is that the split albums have the same artist, and there is no album artist tag. Even if I write the same album artist for every song in album it doesn't help

Did you check "Join Albums" ? That should close with a full rescan , you can do that manually in Settings > Library > full rescan

It was checked from the start. I tried reinstall + full rescan, still no effect

Have you verified that album title and album artist are EXACT matches? This includes number of spaces between words, leading / trailing spaces and upper / lower case? I've not seen any of my albums split where Album Title / Album Artist are exact matches.

Yes, they are all same, and on v2 they were in a single album.

I've copypasted album title and album artist for one album, full rescanned and nothing changed

Your Google Drive links do not have public viewing permissions set so I can't see your examples.

PA v2 did not handle Album Artist tags corrects (or indeed at all) and it would group items together into one album when it should not have done. We'd need to see examples to work out the issue here anyway.

I'm now able to see your screen shots, but they don't really tell the story. Need to see the specific tags and would be way easier in a proper tag editor. Here's an example view of tags using MP3Tag on my PC of a Matchbox 20 album that shows just fine in PA. In the view I've selected all tracks so that in the left hand pane you can see the tags that are identical across all tracks. If the tags are identical it shows the actual value in the left hand pane like in Album, Artist and Album Artist and if the tags are not identical as in the Title column it shows a value of < keep > in the left hand pane. Proper tagging is essential to proper album grouping. It is my understanding that if Album Artist is not populated PA will revert to Artist. I would guess that if one or some of the tracks, but not all the tracks in an album had Album Artist it would be interpreted as not equal across all tracks in the Album.Tag.jpg.38622ea6c1ea935369ddf9f86b862769.jpg

Another thing I've seen cause problems in the past with other music players is files that have multiple versions of tags. If an MP3 file contains both ID3v1 and ID3v2.3 (which I've seen many times) who knows which tag version may be used or may be use parts of each. This is something else that can be seen and corrected using a proper tag editor like MP3Tag on a PC. Here's the tags of an album I recently bought on Amazon and the files contained 2 versions of MP3 tags. When this happens I always remove the older tag version to eliminate the possibility of conflicts or other errors in tag handling.Tags.thumb.png.836c5862242a3e8d8a2ca419267f1bcf.png

I'm having the same issue as well where some albums are being split in two even though the album name is standardized.

The other music player I have installed is not exhibiting this issue.

Do all the songs have the same Album Artist tag (especially if the individual Artist tag varies)? And if there are no consistent Album Artist tags, make sure that Settings > Library > Lists > Join Albums is enabled.

Try turning "Parse CUE files" off then back on. This solved the problem for me.

The tags are missing for a FLAC album. And the short tracks are FLAC only. I guess I'll roll back to v2 and then change my library to mp3
