Crossfade where new song starts at normal volume

Recommended Posts

This one was requested a long time ago, I think it's known as "radio mode" of something similar.

Even more powerful a mode that I used to love on a very old music player on another platform is to watch the at the recorded in/out levels of the two songs. You define a cutoff dB level for outgoing tracks, and a cut-in level for new tracks. Then when the old track get below the defined volume at the end of a song, the new track will be started at its requested in-point (with a settable short overlap value if you want, bringing the new song up underneath the old one so the jump isn't too harsh). That compensates for the problem you get with tracks that either end or start suddenly, which just don't work with automatic fades.

This feature is absolutely needed, and would be enjoyed by a significant number of people. The current crossfade is so rudimentary it would almost be better without it. Fading in a new track almost always sounds terrible.

Hopefully the Poweramp team reads these Forums, because this is one post that they need to see.

Working in radio for almost 20-years,this feature is a MUST for users like me who want to use what we call a "segue" instead of the standard crossfade.  The only other app that uses the seque method is Neutron...but the rest of that app is so complicated I gave up on trying to figure it out.

Apparently the Poweramp team isn't too concerned with their PAID users' requests, since we've been asking for this feature for years.  Come on guys, it can't be that complicated to implement:  While song #1 is fading out, song #2 starts at a time set by the user (usually 2-4 seconds before song #1 fades out completely) at 100% full volume.  It sounds totally awesome, and I (along with many others, apparently) would like to see it added to Poweramp...yesterday.

I've been using Poweramp for years...and I paid for it almost as soon as I downloaded and started using it.  I know thousands of PAID users use the app, so it's not like the developers can't afford to add the feature.  If you want to know exactly how you set up the seque feature, download the trial version of Neutron.  All features work for 14 days, so it would give you time to autopsy the app and find out how to implement the feature.  You won't regret it.

PLEASE -- I'm begging the Poweramp Gods to add the "segue" feature to an already awesome app...and I assure you, you would rule the market.

Thanks in advance...and I hope you don't disappoint me.

Well, the Power Amp team apparently doesn't give a shit about what it's users want - PAID users! I posted a request for a "Segue" option - "Radio Mode" as known by some - over a year ago. Crossfading sounds like crappola 90% of the time (especially when the tune fading out ends cold) and there's really no way to make it sound good. It seems odd to me that Neutron features a Segue...even the now defunct Winamp could be programmed to seque. But Power Amp, the #1 music app on the market, can't find the time to work it in. Granted, I love Power Amp, I've used it for years, and will continue to do so. But as soon as somebody comes out with an app that offers Power Amps features AND a "Segue" option, myself and many others are gonna jump ship. Since Power Amp doesn't seem too concerned about keeping its customers happy, why should we be loyal to Power Amp? C'mon Team - it can't be that complicated to implement, and would surely be appreciated...and USED! Thanks for letting me vent. That is all. Thanks for playing.

Hey Poweramp gods!! Another Paid user here (twice)

Are you there???

We've been asking for this simple feature for soo long! (actually to optionally turn off a feature) : fading in a new track sounds so cheap!

if it is about keeping the sound quality of the music.. that is not how the artist wants his song to start.

Crossfading it's about  keeping a smooth listening experience.. the crappy fade in effect just adds horrible semi empty spaces between songs.

Now that gappless effect is introduced, it's time to optionally remove the fade in effect. For a better result.

Back the good old PC Winamp days, what is being described here as "segue" or "radio mode" was available via a fabulous little plugin called "SqrSoft Advanced Crossfading Output". You could set the fade-in and fade-out threshold dB levels to achieve exactly what is being asked here - so that tracks with abrupt beginnings or endings never get faded, which I agree sounds wrong.

What could be relevant to PA would be defining a cutoff dB level for outgoing tracks, and a cut-in level for starting tracks. Then when the old track gets below the defined volume at the end of a song, the new track will be started at its requested in-point (with a settable short overlap value if you want, bringing the new song up underneath the old one so the jump isn't too harsh).

Perhaps it's not the exactly same what has been requested here, but I'm also not completely satisfied with the fading options in PA. What I'm missing is the option to set Manual Track Change Fading to Only Fade out. If I understand correctly it should also be possible to apply this to chromecast output.

If there were a poll for features that Paid users would like to see, I think this would be number one.

The current crossfade is really, really annoying.

Andre, those winamp controls look absolutely amazing; exactly what we need!
