christmw2503
I've been having this bug where Poweramp hasn't updated stats for more than a week and I'm about to reset the app to see if I can fix it. Was wondering if it's possible to restore the most played list either through the app or using the "Music playlist manager" app.
flyingdutchman
@christmw2503 Poweramp does not backup your ratings or times played but yes, my app, Music Playlist Manager does.

andrewilley
You can export Ratings (but not Play Counts) from Poweramp directly, but it's a slightly quirky method. Song ratings are automatically included in exported playlist files, so all you need to do is create a temporary playlist containing your whole library, and export it. 1) Go to the Library > All Songs category, long-press on any song title and tap 'All', then choose '+Playlist' to insert every song in your library into a single large new playlist. 2) Then go to Library > Playlists, tap the menu button, and select Export. All of your internal playlists (including the one you just created) will be backed up to storage as .M3U8 files. This step is also needed to create backups of any other internal playlists whenever you move to a new PA setup, or reinstall the app. 3) Copy the relevant .M3U8 file(s) to somewhere that Poweramp is set to scan for music, and it will be picked up and the details imported automatically during the next scan. Note: to retrieve stored ratings, you would need to have enabled Settings > Library > Playlists > Import Ratings. Once done, you can dispose of the temporary M3U8 file, or keep it somewhere else as a backup if you want. Andre

Now that Poweramp recognizes the playlist, what next? I see I can play it, but "most played" list is empty in Poweramp. Ami I missing something? andrewilley
@flyingdutchman It's fine to discuss here if you want, this is something that would be of interest to other Poweramp users too. @christmw2503 From PA's internal point of view, things like Play Counts, Recently Played, and Recently Added are all considered to be temporary/transient information, only relevant to the current installation, so are not backed up or restored anywhere. flyingdutchman
@christmw2503 after exporting your Ratings and Times Played, in the folder playlist_manager will be a file called poweramp_ratings_backup.txt. You can inspect this using a regular text editor. First line shows the column headings, the rest is your data.. Times played is the 3rd column so identify any tracks that have a value other than 0 . The delimiter used is ## Once you have found any, check the actual track metadata through Poweramp (After the import of course)

How do I check "the Metadata through Poweramp"?
flyingdutchman
All it means is that once you have found a track with a rating, so a value other than 0, note which track it is and check it using Poweramp. The rating should be showing

flyingdutchman
@christmw2503 a slight misunderstanding, ratings and times played go together . They make up the popm mp3 tag

flyingdutchman
@christmw2503 thanks, now try this, using a text editor, change the rating 0 on the first line to a 5 "1-06 139 Dead of Night.mp3"##"5"##"1"##"1637831129129"##"Invisible"##"Leeland . Save the file, reimport and check in Poweramp. If the rating now shows 5, the import has worked as intended and your times played will also have been updated. If you still do not see it, perhaps a rescan is required
christmw2503
I did and the rating change was reflected in Poweramp. I even edited the play counts and the change were also reflected in Poweramp. Problem is that restoring play counts doesn't work after Poweramp reset/reinstall. flyingdutchman
@christmw2503 I found no issues, even after a reinstall. Did you check the track details through the main menu
christmw2503
@flyingdutchman Yes. Play count =0 Maybe the issue is present in newer versions of the app. Currently, I can't buy anything on the play store, so I'm using old 3013 version of the app that was free. flyingdutchman
@christmw2503 The free version does not import does it? Of the top of my head i dont know the release date of your version. You can also buy it on amazon by the way
flyingdutchman
@christmw2503 there was never a free version 3013, the paid release 3013 was Feb 2020.
