Why do you think it supports Hi-Res output?

I hope)

From  Alpha2 F.A.Q

- Snapdragon variant (LG/Sony/HTC devices). (Btw. many Snapdragon-based devices actually has Hi-Res capable hardware (e.g. latest Nexuses), but it's disabled in software)

1.  SONY Xperia Z3 Compact

2.  Android 6.0.1 stock (I guess CyanogenMod has abandoned the Z3c, but it seems SONY hasn't surprisingly enough.)

3.  The link posted earlier ( http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2014/10/01/xperia-details-hi-res-audio/ ) includes the Z3 Compact.  I think in this respect it may actually basically have the same sound-related hardware as the Z3.

BTW, it sounds just amazing through my external DAC (a Fiio E18K.)  Just...  They gave it a super tiny USB cable that assumes all Android devices have their USB connection on the bottom and quite a lot of SONY devices put it on the side.  -.-  (One of these days I'm going to have to build a custom cable probably because I can't find any third party ones that work.)

EDIT:  BTW, you talk about things being disabled at the software level.  Perhaps this is something Xposed Framework can deal with?  Food for thought maybe?  Obviously not something everyone can use, but maybe a solution for at least some people?

EDIT2:  I just updated.  It only mentions the Z3, but shows the SONY API and offers the option to enable it on my Z3 Compact, so I believe it must have been included by default.  It seems to work as far as I can tell.

Errr. Noob here. Changed my ROM and it seems it now supports hi res. However when I enable hi res, audio completely goes off. It shows that music is playing but no sound comes out through the earphones. Anything am not doing right?

Telling us your hardware, ROM version, etc would be a great start. See first post in this thread.

DEVICE: Huawei P8 (GRA-09)
FIRMWARE: Android 6.0 (B321 version) EMUI 4

CPU: Kirin 930
AUDIO PROCESSOR:   HiSilicon Hi6402

sending audio_policy.conf file if it may help

http://www.whathifi.com/huawei/p8/review In verdict is that it supports hi-res audio

Also there is info that it supports " that chip supports playing back 24bit HiRes audio data via 3,5" jack output" http://www.head-fi.org/t/782371/huawei-p8-review-by-mark2410

Will it support it? Thanks

Device model Motorola moto X pure edition.

XT1575 snapdragon 808.

(this is the exact same core as the 810 which is supported except it has 2 big cores instead of 4) therefore it is the same SOC and should support anything the 810.

ROM version (Android version, stock/OTA/Custom ROM)

Stock Rom Android 6.0 and above.

Why do you think your device supports Hi-Res (link to device features, etc.)? A copy of your device's /etc/audio_policy.conf file may be helpful.

See above attachment

I have sybasonic DAC (SA9227 USB Audio, same audio techinca DAC AT-PHA100 ).

It support upto 384khz 32bit on pc and android(other pro app works upto DSD64) (android 4.4/5.0)

Only 16bit/48khz mode displayed in poweamp player, but dac check LED means 44.1khz (when 96khz 24bit file played)

I wish Poweramp wokring perfectly.

Nexus 7 2013 + USB DAC Fioo E10K (stock rom, rooted) http://fiio.net/en/products/27

Hi res audio on Poweramp only support 24bit-48Khz (according to output status) whereas the USB DAC should able to playback 24bit-96Khz. Any ideas? Attached is the audio_policy.conf and below is the  /proc/asound/card2/stream0 file while playing back audio from poweramp
