  1. @hgoldner I would say players with own audio engines may be affected by this kind of bug. OEM may test their firmware with the stock Android audio engine, but anything non-standard is often untested and is affected by the issue. As most players on Android are just UI for the stock media engine, these are free from the bug. Players like Poweramp, UAPP, Neutron may be affected.

Anyways, it's rare - I can't reproduce anything like this for my test devices, so it may be also a combination of Android device, BT device, firmware, and app environment on the device.

Nevertheless, I will include options to skip any BT commands for xx seconds after connection + also option to ignore shuffle/repeat BT commands.

  2. @carrystone the issue can't be reproduced with Spotify 8.8.88.397  and Poweramp Equalizer build-974 (running without Advanced Player Tracking on the default settings - for Equalizer settings means what you change in the Settings, not the equalizer/bands/tone settings). If your versions are lower, please update.

If phone reboot doesn't help, them most probably something is not on the default setting, e.g. try to restore Equalizer / Known Players to defaults.

    Thanks!

  3. @mssm if the Absolute volume detection fails (it depends on short volume changes, and if something else is also changes volume at the moment of detection, it will incorrectly disable DVC) - just disable "No DVC for Absolute volume" option. That will disable that detection logic. As for incorrect BT device detection, please be more specific, starting from your Equalizer app build. Thanks!

  4. I would add that I'm actively looking into the ways to implement server-less approach to cloud storages for Poweramp. We don't want to go the server-enabled solution here to avoid all that server related infrastructure problems, but server-less approach probably won't be as good as server-enabled solutions, where some intermediate server can scan your storage, categorize songs, and provide resulting library instantly to a player.

This feature will be added to the "next features" voting soon.

  5. The last build on forum/Play (976) is up-to-date. 3rd party stores may have higher build numbers, but these include specific changes for that stores only which can't go into Play build anyway (Play doesn't generally allow 3rd party payment systems/app stores libraries). And we can't keep the same build number as on Play as otherwise users will never get these (often important for that store) updates from those stores.

For example, Huawei AppGallery build has specific AppGallery related code. You don't really want this code in your general build (it talks back to Chinese Huawei servers), but it's probably ok for Huawei users.

  6. @Stefan74 not sure how exactly volume is implemented in your head unit, but for any issue related to volume, I would start with disabling Poweramp DVC (Settings / Audio / Direct Volume Control) as the DVC relies heavily on the correct and Android-CTS-compliant volume implementation.

Disabled DVC will result in the reduced dynamic range (means bass will start to overload output earlier) - that can be compensated by applying appropriate negative Preamp.

    Thanks!

  7. If no any pause/resume commands appear in "Last Processed Commands" log (that can be searched for in Poweramp Settings), then it's something with audio subsystem or obvious lack of cpu or background thread state applied to Poweramp.

  8. @MotleyG that only possible with the attached DACs (at least in form of some hi-res USB-dongle) preferable with the hardware volume control. Also it will work for some DAPs. Not possible for standard Android outputs (3.5/normal dongles/BT) anyway.

Nevertheless this feature is planned, though, based on experience with other Android players supporting USB DACs, it will never work for all of them (USB DACs).

  9. Poweramp selects mp4 image based on image size. Unfortunately, tracks in the wild often have very low quality as first image if multiple images are embedded, this is why this approach as chosen. Also, there is no notion of front, back, or leaflet images for the format (there is no standard on "covr" atom at all) - just a list of images is there which we must interpret one way or another.

Also, this logic was slightly modified to choose first image if it's size is large enough (50kb).
