  1. I was finally able to run AirMusic on my devices (it doesn't work well with Chromecast receivers, but works fine with DNLA/Apple). As it seems, Android duplicates audio for AirMusic before DSP (before Equalizer). Equalizer still runs, but that audio is muted and AirMusic opens additional audio output. If AirMusic advertises its AudioSession as audio players do, Equalizer may handle that output as well.

Alternatively it's possible to handle it via Advanced Player Tracking, I guess, if there will be user requests for this.

    Thanks!

  2. @Rocatah those widget menus are rendered by launcher (as well as widget), so that's question for the launcher. May be there is a setting somewhere or they just choose to hide some buttons for smaller screens.

Poweramp has no playlist widget, just playlist shortcut, though some firmwares group that together with widgets.

  3. Currently Poweramp always decode to PCM to handle the audio stream uniformly. Even with the exclusive USB-DAC support potentially added to Poweramp, the DSD playback will either require 2 conversions for eq/dsp to work (a pointless battery killer), or all dsp including software volume, DVC, replay gain, etc. will be disabled during such playback, resulting in very rough experience.

  4. @1meter thanks for the details.

I tested various outputs on this device, and apart from USB DAC running on 384khz, any other output device (including LDAC) are forced to 48khz. Quick investigation revelead "Dirac" sound effect hanging around globally and forcing audio being 48khz on all times, causing those weird 44.1->48->44.1 or 96->48->96 resamplings. The Dirac effect switch in Settings does nothing (effect is still there, enabled).

The effect can be disabled by "adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.dirac.acs" (+ reboot) and reenabled by "adb shell pm enable com.dirac.acs".
Then you can get Hi-Res output working properly on this device:

  5. @Nguyen Huu Hung for the modern Android devices, AudioTrack Output (which is probably already selected by default) is most stable and will handle everything automatically, including LDAC hi-res 96khz, or 44.1/48khz and 16/24bit codecs. I would suggest avoiding touching other output settings if it works on the default ones (and for Samsung it should work fine pretty much with the default settings there).
