@itsbekenotbecky newer Androids require some steps from the app developers to make apps compatible with the OS, as Google constantly "tightens" security, removes/replaces features, and pushes developer to update apps for a higher target SDK levels. Poweramp is updated, but other 3rd party app may never be updated.
As for scrobbling, LastFM app should work out of box.
You can also may try beta version of Simple Scrobbler which seems to work (at least for few songs as I tested) with the recent 965 Poweramp on Android 13+.

@BooFar we can't change it for existing users. Also Poweramp focus is a local storage playback, optimized for the huge libraries (which can be shuffled/played as a whole), with ability to play target lists directly, while queue based players are focused on the shorter playlists.
-
@of them it should work. I would suggest using Restore defaults once in Settings / Look and feel / Notifications. Thanks!
-
@of them hit pause to pause and if you don't need notification, swipe it away. Alternatively use non-standard notification, but that will be notification, not media control and it may conflict with it depending on the firmware.
@of them Poweramp never force stopped by X. Force stopping Poweramp (if it's playing) will cause Android to reload Poweramp process. Poweramp unloads its service within 5 seconds of inactivity. The X button previously paused player and removed notification. Now this is 2 separate actions.
We can't use X now as this is propagated to other places, such as Android Auto and there is no way to provide separate buttons to Auto and to Media notification. Also Google forces us to follow appropriate UI pattern (swipe notification away to remove it). You can still try to use old style notification via Poweramp settings.

@Mukul Kalsait you can enable Autosave. It’s just now can be disabled for Parametric mode, but you can toggle it on or off as you wish.
-
@ClicK your Android version? Try to reduce block size and see if this helps (on the lower Androids smaller block sizes may not work properly).
-
@RaulReturns if you mean visualizations - yes and no. Poweramp visualization engine is an independent implementation, so it’s not always compatible with all milk presets (but it tries to be as compatible as it’s possible). ProjectM is another implementation with its own quirks so presets may look differently.

@viennesewaltz if track is VBR and no total length header provided or CBR but no mention of total # of blocks in the header, the only way to know the actual duration is to decode whole file. Obviously Poweramp doesn't do that for scan as it runs on battery-limited device (and we also want our scan to be fast). Instead, some length estimation happens, which is usually quite close, but may be wrong in some cases, for example, where album art is also considered a song data (it shouldn't).
Also, on first playback there is a bit better estimation which may update the track length.
I will try to improve the length estimation for the file shared, if that's possible. Thanks!

@Simon McKay-Mills if possible, please share the file with gpmaxmpz@gmail.com - probably some fix or workaround is possible. Thanks!

@jdwyz If it happens only sometimes, try to reboot your phone once.
If it doesn't help - you may try to disable DVC for given player (in Known Players) temporarily and see if it helps.

@ClicK at this moment only 2 bands are implemented for compressor with the frequency knob dividing them.
-
@Sam Darabi what update? All the changes are already in the 965 build.

Ape format may not support accurate seeking in some encoding modes, making CUEs (which require at least 1-second accurate seeking) not so feasible. Poweramp APE decoder is tuned for (Battery) efficiency as we are on the mobile battery powered device - this is why PC solution for this (decoding everything to a seeking point) doesn’t work well on the phone.

@Cpasley I guess this is the default font? I can slightly increase it in this area (+1-1.5pt max), but this font matches system font size. If you feel the font is too small, can you do few screenshots of your device Settings for the font comparison (on same font settings/scale) please? As the default font size for title/album was increased and now scaled to the device font size. Scaled the way Google implemented it. If you see font size reduced, that may mean one of the following:
- You have reduced font size in your device Settings
- You have tweaked DPI or/and non-standard font scale settings on your device
This is build 957 vs 965:
-
@Wang Chih-Jen search Poweramp settings for "Filename". Thanks!
-
@James007 sorry, can't reproduce this (build 965). From your screenshot something strange happens with left area (black bar to the left), though this shouldn't affect menu/lyrics layout.
-
@Moses yes, small system font will result in a smaller font in Poweramp as well. You can try other Poweramp fonts (Bold font is a bit larger), but now all fonts are always scale according to the system setting. This is because it's very hard to support non-scaled AND scaled fonts when various device screen sizes/font styles/screen scaling are in effect.
@Xav1403 Poweramp applies -6dB in non-DVC mode by default and this matches pretty much most of the AutoEq presets (or is close/within the small margin). For the DVC mode you shouldn't get clipping in non-max volume scenario. This is why AutoEq presets gain is adjusted for Poweramp - to avoid AutoEq presets sounding too low comparing to other builtin Poweramp presets.
-
@Moses this font follows your system font size now. Could you please make a screenshot of some system app (e.g. System Settings) for a comparison as for my devices default font matches system font sizes (I would say, it's +1 larger than system). I may tune it a bit though.
@Loweaul thanks for the report, this can't be reproduced on my devices so it can be some some specific MIUI/device issue. Please note that media notifications are changed a lot with each Android 11-12-13-14 release by Google, so any beta (and earlier release) MIUI firmware usually broken more or less in this regard. Xiaomi usually fixes it in subsequent patches and I may have it patched already - but I'll try to retest this on all MIUI devices I have.

Build 965:

Target SDK updated to 33 due to the Google Play requirements. This causes the following changes, restrictions, and requirements:
Play edition:-
File Access Legacy Mode option is not supported anymore on Android 13+. The support is removed by Google.
Please use Music Folders dialog to enable/add appropriate folders with the music to Poweramp Library
Android doesn't allow certain folders to be added this way, including /Downloads or storage root. This limitation is set by Google. Please try adding their subfolders instead
Website (-uni-) edition:-
File Access Legacy Mode option now requires All Files Access permission on Android 13+
All Files Access permission also makes more file types (previously invisible in File Access Legacy Mode) available for Poweramp, such as .CUE files
All editions:-
Android 13+ shows media notification differently for the Target SDK 33 apps, additional actions (Shuffle/Repeat) are shown and unified with other media consumers, such as Android Auto.
Depending on firmware, the look of the notification is also slightly changed -
on Android 13+ Keep Media Notification is enabled by default and it now always keeps notification on pause.
The player is unloaded in 5 seconds of paused state, as previously - Android 13+ notification/Auto icons updated to match system media icons
- on Android 13+ the close action (X) is not available anymore
-
File Access Legacy Mode option is not supported anymore on Android 13+. The support is removed by Google.
Note: At the moment Google denied All Files Access permission for Poweramp for the 963-965 builds, but, as access to the files is a core functionality of local player, I'll try to continue with requesting this a bit later, as it takes weeks to get Play team response.

@ClicK currently there is a “prevent clipping” option already there (Limit), though yes, some indication may be useful. Thanks for the request.
-
@G-mjuni thanks for the report, will be fixed in the next build.
-
@andrewilley The icons for possible in-Auto Library in the grid mode require more work - they should be specifically tailored for the Auto as it uses weird icon scaling and downgrades icons quality, so the default Poweramp library icons are not looking good there. Added to TODO.
-
@andrewilley yes, went with the list view for Library.

@of them not directly reproducible for the test devices I have handy. Are you able to swipe away other media players? The Android API has no any mention or a way to block this swiping away, so I guess this is a firmware issue or feature.
