DeathLeprous88
Hi, I have a galaxy s21+ on the latest version of Android. I'm on Poweramp build 925. Recently i have noticed that right when I connect to bluetooth, the volume jumps up and down for about 5-10 seconds before becoming stable again. I can see on screen the volume jumping up and down, and I have tried holding the volume up button and also pressing the volume up button rapidly when it happens, but it still bounces around. I have also tried connecting to different bluetooth devices and it happens on all of them. Is there a way to fix this? I have the disable absolute volume setting enabled in developer options, and I can't think of anything else to try. It only lasts a few seconds, but it is very annoying and it just started happening recently.
Solution maxmp Posted February 10, 2022 Solution Share Posted February 10, 2022 This is absolute volume detection. See "Direct Volume Control (DVC)" in Poweramp settings. You can disable "No DVC for Bluetooth Absolute Volume" option if you know your device absolute volume status.
superluig164
I experience this issue as well. I thought that option disabled DVC entirely on Bluetooth, which is not what I want. Is there not a better way to detect Bluetooth absolute volume? Or perhaps check for that developer option being enabled?

maxmp
@superluig164 the option disables DVC if it detects Absolute Volume. If you know you have Absolute Volume disabled anyway, or if you disabled DVC already, you can switch off "Direct Volume Control (DVC)" to avoid detection and any possible issues around that. Absolute Volume Enabled => DVC OFF for best volume on Bluetooth Absolute Volume Disabled => DVC ON for best volume on Bluetooth
DeathLeprous88
I meant to do it when I installed the app. I thought I had already but I looked and it was not enabled. Fixed the issue. Thanks!
superluig164
@maxmp so if I disable that option, but have absolute volume disabled, it'll keep DVC enabled on Bluetooth?
maxmp
@superluig164 correct.
superluig164
@maxmp okay, thanks. I was thinking it would disable DVC on Bluetooth if that option was turned off.
DC5fan
maxmp: Your suggestion regarding the AVE helped that problem with the start of an mp3 volume changing for 4-5 seconds fixed my problem. Thanks!
