Powersamp fails at 35,000 feet due to license verification problem

Recommended Posts

I just purchased Powersamp from Google Play yesterday for my Galaxy S6 and it ran fine. Today, I was on a plane from Boston to LA (6 1/2 hr flight) and was expecting to use it all the way. I started it before we took off and somewhere over Kansas    - I exited the program and put my phone into airplane mode  - NO internet connection.

When I restarted Poweramp - it gave me a message that it couldn't get to Google Play to verify my license - and locked me out. So this great program that I purchased was dead to me. I couldn't get past that message and, obviously, couldn't send an email from it  - even when I clicked "already have license (or something like that). I am NOT happy about this.  If Poweramp has to check with Google Play to verify my license every time (or every 3rd or 5th or 10th time) then this is unacceptable and I would like my money back and I will remove it from my phone.  Good thing I also installed free versions of JetStudio, Equalizer and Music Player which I wound up using the rest of the flight - they all worked fine.

I noticed two versions on my phone   Poweramp (free) and Power amp (unlocker) which when I ran the unlocked version said I could combine the two.

I am returning to Boston in 3 days  - so please send me a version that NEVER checks for my license (because you guys build that into the binary somehow) or fix the problem (assuming you know what this licensing problem is all about) or return my money.

Sorry for the inconvenience you encountered. Google License validation can occur any time within the first 24-48 hours from purchase, and unfortunately you seem to have been caught without a internet connection when it happened. See http://support.powerampapp.com/knowledgebase/articles/323557-is-internet-connection-required for details of how it works and once validated, you should no longer need a live connection. It's not altimeter based though. :)

Thanks for replying right back

How was I able to purchase the product and get the two files in  the 1st place - wasn't that a Google License validation  when I bought it? Didn't you do it then?

Why go thru a 2nd re-verify purchase 24-48 hours after it is made? if the 1st was successful, why again.?

So Poweramp will never need a internet connection to run? if so - that is good.

is there a sliding bar anywhere that tells you how far into the file you are? - so we can move the slider back and forth to fast forward or backward?

Yes, once validated (it's a Google thing I gather) the license should never be checked again other than after ROM upgrades, system resets, etc. That's the theory anyway, some people have occasionally run foul of the system though, and I agree that can be very annoying if you are somewhere where you can't do anything about it.

Yes there's an audio progress bar on the player screen, on the default skin it's right below the the song title and has the current running time and the total song time shown beneath it. if you can't see it, there is a further problem that needs to be looked into for you.
