using BT buds is detected but not my Bluetooth head unit for wireless android auto?

Recommended Posts

I'm using a Sony android auto head unit in my car and Poweramp can't see the Bluetooth device. It connects to Bluetooth and then connects wifi directly to the head unit for android auto while Bluetooth stays connected but in Poweramp it doesn't see the Bluetooth device. But it seems my ear buds when it's connected to Bluetooth. This wouldn't be an issue but none of the assignments activate a preset for playing music through my car.

Is it possible your BT-to-WiFi device is only declaring itself as a telephone headset, not a full A2DP (stereo music) playback interface? What do you see in the Android BT Settings info for that device - Calls only, or Calls and Audio?

My understanding is the wireless AA connection on newer Sony models uses WiFi for higher resolution audio, not BT.
