Poweramp sounds good only at max volume

For over 1 year I have this bug with Poweramp v3, currently running 906-911. (LE: actually from the moment v3 was in alpha and wasn't available in playstore, but I was too lazy to report it)

Ecountered it on 2 devices: Samsung Note 2 (GT-N7100) runnning multiple custom roms and Huawei Mate 10 Pro (BLA-L29) stock from android 8 to 10.

I listen to music with Equ and Tone enabled, but everytime I lower the volume even one step, it sounds horrible, music starts to rattle. I can describe it sounds like broken speakers. Setting the volume back to max fixes it. The only way to listen at lower volumes is to disable Equ and Tone (Limit is always on).

I tried all the possible settings, nothing seems to work, tried all output plugins, different buffers, etc. It does the same on phone's speaker, bluetooth, cable, everything.

Please what is the output source.? (Phone speaker, Bluetooth headphone, or wired earpiece) have you tried any other music player? Is the result different,? Have you tried resetting your device?

It happens on all output sources. Every other player works fine, I mean.. even Poweramp works fine, but I have to disable the enahcements if I want to listen at a lower volume.

I have no idea to be honest, I first thought it was a Note 2 / ROM issue, but you said it happens on another device too. If anything, distortion/clipping issues should get worse with higher volumes, not lower. Have you tried enabling/.disabling DVC?

Andre

I will do more testing today. I am pretty sure it has something to do with the output plugin and other settings. I just need to get the perfect combo.
