  1. @maxmp On android 11 in  ver.build-898 "Equalizer Screen Spectrum" is not displayed after being set the tab to  on...when the music is played i have to toggle "Off" and then turn "On" - Enable Audio Processing under "Equalizer" settings to get them. This issue is not there in Android 9.

Phone: Redmi Note 10 by Xiaomi on Android 11. Rom: MIUI 12.0.3

Accidentally misread and posted this in the older thread so that one can be ignored. I'm trying to get this to work with Plexamp. I'm able to get the player added with the advanced player tracking but the EQ isn't being applied and the spectrum bars visualizer is inactive as if it's not getting the audio stream and plexamp is just bypassing the EQ.

@DaijoubuReboot your phone. Then open EQ app and minimize it so than it should remain in phone's memory. Give a try now with Plexamp.

  3. @wargnerm For Xiaomi phones you have to give special permissions for USB Debugging.

    Develepor Options

    USB Debugging > On

USB Debugging (Security Settings) > On

Then run the adb command. No need to turn off MIUI Optimizations.

I'm getting this error when trying to grant DUMP permission via USB debugging. Tried on both Redmi Note 8 Pro and Mi Note 10 Lite from Xiaomi. Tried turning off MIUI Optimizations too.

  4. @Pankajk5Found a temporary workaround for amazon music app and will work in any phone. Open amazon music app and play music. While playing; send a Message or a WhatsApp message to the phone and the equalizer will be operative. Seems there is no native support of amazon music app to send notification. Funny workaround !

@SamPA I agree with you . please post a workaround if you find any.

  5. @Pankajk5 This workaround is not working here. Maybe it's working for you. Depends upon phone to phone. Issues with Amazon music app. It's not sending the audio session properly to the equalizer app. As "global equalization session 0" is out of date and is deprecated; will have to look for another permanent workaround.

@SamPA One workaround that I am seeing right now is, we need to stop permission of notification of MXP and enable it again while amazon music is playing and it works but that is not the right thing to use which is not possible to do every time.

  6. @Pankajk5 Yeh ! I also noted that. Seems @maxmpAmazon music is not sending the audio session properly to the equalizer app even after giving all the permissions in "Advanced Player Tracking" via ADB. Try to enable background running of "Amazon Music" and try again ! BTW which phone you do you have?

@SamPA @SamPA Amazon music is still having issues many times. Sometime it works sometime it doesn't. Not sure what can be the cause of it even though the player is visible in Equalizer

I too use vanced for quite a while and it's completely safe, yet more since when they added the vanced manager app, where you can get stuff and updates directly from them, no need to even open the browser. I use my main account there and absolutely no problems so far.

Also, the process to make it work with the equalizer app is a one time only proccess, at least here on my phone. Once you do the play a video, hit home screen and minimize the mini player to the notification, you won't need to do that ever again, it will always work with vanced. Sometimes you will need to open the equalizer app manually but you don't need to do all that process again as it will start working as soon as the equalizer app started.

Thanks to the equalizer app I've been using a function i always despised, which is the compressor. I always hated that and avoided it like the plague but since I use youtube mainly to hear narrations and people talking, that is actually helping. I never thought I would see Poweramp equalizer working standalone, but i surely never even considered about using compressor for anything XD

Only thing missing for me is the reverb, but max said that is not as easy as it seems unfortunately

@ScarletNeko Once you do the play a video, [PAUSE IT] then hit home screen and minimize the player to the notification, then play the video from notification. Details here

  8. @Pankajk5 Just read the comments in the forum properly. @maxmp has already said "Equalizer will recognize app as player if the app posts “media” notification (the notification type with transport buttons and cover). Youtube by default doesn’t do that". Just go thro' my my comments and that will guide you to run YouTube and YouTube music via YouTube Vanced. Look at pic below.

@SamPA thanks, I just ran the command  and amazon seems to be working fine . Hope this should not cause any issue to my device. only one thing that I observed youtube is not working. which has been reported by other user well.

  9. @Pankajk5 I don't agree. Why should @maxmp approach to each app developer. There are plenty of music and media apps. He has already given a workaround solution to enable the equalization in almost any player thro' ADB [android debug bridge]. BTW he has made this app very customizable. If you have any issues in executing the ADB command; We can discuss this on DM/PM. He has already stated its a (2 line code) that should be written in the app made by the developers that should be based on this. I have executed the adb command without hesitation and look below..the equalizer app has discovered every installed player in my phone and specially in MIUI (XIAOMI) phone which is so aggressive in memory management. ADB command has nothing to do with your privacy but all to do with "Notification Listener Permission" for the music apps to be discovered in "Known players".

@maxmp usually this should be taken care by you people to check with Android or app developer to see what is the resolution on this to understand it better instead of customer reaching to them . Where we don't have any background what needs to be implemented in the backend.

Youtube by default doesn’t do that for me, but some users report it does that for them. I guess Google does A/B(/C/D/E...) testing rollout of features and this is enabled for subset of users.

Rightly said... But there are various alternatives to play YouTube in the Equalizer App like YouTube Vanced and Pi Music Player. Pi music player is recognized on the fly by Equalizer App and does play YouTube very well.

It does not work with Amazon Music. as of now that is the only music streaming app that I am using. Can you please tell me when this support will be available

Equalizer App with Amazon Music is working absolutely fine. Have you enabled the permissions with ADB command in "Advanced Player Tracking" for "Amazon Music" to be discovered in "Known players" ?

@maxmpNoticed very strange behaviour in XIAOMI S2/Y2 (MIUI 12.0.2). To get Equalizer preset to work in some of music players like Rocket MP and Audials already discovered "Known players". Have to grant "Notification Listener Permission" again and Toggle off/on "Enable Player Tracking" in Advanced Player Tracking  to get the equalizers presets such as (bass, treble, flat, dance, rock) to work. Don't know if it's a bug in MIUI (12.0.2) Rom or in the build 890 itself.

@maxmp No bug.. but the limiltation of MIUI optimisation on XIAOMI phones. You have to allow all the App permissions of the Equalizer app to run in background. But still have to open it once in first and lock the app in background and then all the music players runs fine with the equalilizer presets. I think this app is ready to be launched on Play Store now. Bugs and fixes can be done later on time to time.
