Any way to view "now playing" or media library in car using just standard Bluetooth (not Android Auto)

Recommended Posts

I have a samsung Galaxy S20+ and S24+, both phones can support AVRCP 1.6 and the default Samsung Music player supports browsing of the now playing/media library lists on the car screen directly to choose a song to play. I can't seem to figure out how to get this with Poweramp. I've enabled AVRCP 1.6 in the developer options as well as enabled the "Now Playing List For Connected Devices/Apps" in the Misc settings menu, but no luck.

Searching around the web I came across another player developer mentioning this API is what is required for the now playing functionality to work via Bluetooth:

https://developer.android.com/reference/android/media/session/MediaSession

https://developer.android.com/reference/android/service/media/MediaBrowserService

Some other info: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/218823/why-is-google-play-music-the-only-app-that-produces-a-browse-button-on-my-car

Just wondering if this is possible or if it can be considered as a feature to be added?

Not sure if Settings=>Misc=>Now Playing List would help in this case, as I dont know if it uses the same GetFolderItems API. It works very nicely in Android Auto anyway.

Andre

Tried but don't help 😞
