Importing Playlists

I've been using Poweramp for several years, and have not had an issue with transferring playlists from my computer until today.

I use Media Player Legacy to copy the files to my phone, which duplicates the file paths from my PC to the phone.  I would then copy the playlist files (in .wpl or .m3u format) to a folder on my phone which Poweramp has access to, and then use the import function under settings.

This time when I updated my music, I copied over the playlists as usual, but when I try to import them it says "0 playlists imported".  While Poweramp can see the .wpl and .m3u files, they do not seem to be structured properly, and the bulk of the files will not play.  I'm not sure what has changed that the import function does not seem to want to work, but any help would be appreciated.

There is no need to use the Import function in Poweramp for this sort of process. Import is a one-shot task to import any Android System Playlists from Android's system audio database. In fact, the existence of Android system playlists has been depreciated by Google in the latest versions of Android anyway, so their use is best avoided for the future. There was another similar thread on this subject recently in fact: 

 

Poweramp's scanner is designed to see M3U, WPL, PLS, etc playlist files directly, as part of its own music scanning process - as long as you place the files in a location that has been granted access via your Music Folders setup. It will show them as part of the Playlists Category in the Library. Normally PA does background rescans when you first launch the app, but If they don't appear automatically you can force either a simple background quick rescan in the Playlists menu, or a Full Rescan in PA Settings=>Library. 

When it reads a playlist file, Poweramp ignores any Windows-style path details ("C:\Users\etc") so PC sourced playlists should be able to work fine as long as there is an exact match to the final filename and the first level of parent folder that is it contained within.

Ok, thanks for the information.

Poweramp is definitely seeing the playlists, but around 50% or more of the songs end up "unplayable" through the playlist, although they are definitely on the device and can be played when selected directly -- the playlist just doesn't seem to be able to "find" them.  This holds true even if I do a Rescan.

Maybe I need to do a Full Rescan?

Do the "unplayable" songs show in the playlist with cover art and title/artist/album info, or just as simple filenames? If it's just filenames then the quoted folder/filename combination given in the playlist file is not present in PA'Ss music library. The same song might be present elsewhere of course, but playlists work by exact filename and parent folder name matching.

A Full Rescan shouldn't do any harm though.
