There are test versions of the upcoming Poweramp v3 if you want to try that before its official release, see the Downloads tab at the top of this page. Development on v3 has been ongoing for about 4 years, so there has been little attention given to v2 as it is now considered a legacy product. I think everyone (the dev included) expected v3 to be ready for market sooner than this, but as there is only one person authoring this project things can take time.
