Hey, had a search about in the forum and this seems like the closest match to the issue I'm having getting PA to work the way that I want.
I'm in the same boat as taxen23 was in that I can follow what you're saying to do in the UI with regard to changing the artwork, but there's no 3 dots menu to access any further options. All I get is the ability to select an image online or a local image. (The latter which I don't have and don't really want to have to go downloading / extracting duplicate copies of album art that I already have embedded)
I don't know whether its a recent Android change which restricts access to the cached artwork files mentioned earlier in this thread, but that option certainly doesn't seem available to me.
All I want to achieve is the ability to choose an artist image (visible in artist and album artist lists) from the album covers which are embedded in the .mp3 files.
Typically I just want to be able to set the album artists' earliest album as their artist image as this will be the most memorable for me to allow for quick browsing.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.

If that is the case is there anything that can be done to prioritise CPU power to PA? I will check log for pause commands and report back.

Hi Andre,
Had the issue again today, it occurred as follows.
1 - Playing music from MicroSD inserted directly into the HU in fullscreen visualiser mode.
2 - Music pauses. Visualiser drops back to main PA screen. Play button does not change, remains as if it is playing with play icon always visible.
3 - Music resumes after estimated 2 seconds
4 - Full screen visualiser mode returns.
Any further thoughts on this?
-
HI Andre, thanks for your reply.
It resumes of its own accord, and yes the play/pause icon looks as though it's still playing in that it doesn't change at all. I'm going to check but I'm 99% sure the counter does not continue and the track resumes at exactly the same point.
It's really infrequent so difficult to pin down.
At some point I was going to add some music to a folder on the HU's internal memory and scan that into the library to rule out an issue with the MicroSD but messing with the library and just listening to the same tracks until it happens (or doesn't?!) again is a bit of a pain. Hence why I'm wondering if it could be caused by other things first.

Build 976 from Play Store
I can't say exactly when this started but for some weeks PA has been seemingly randomly pausing when playing tracks on my Android headunit. Music is saved on a 512GB MicroSD inserted directly into the unit. It occurs when my phone's wifi hotspot is disabled and no other apps running (that I can see) so no speed camera or other warning alert.
The play button remains as it is during the pause, in that it doesn't ever turn into the pause symbol, although I think I'm right in saying that if the full screen visualiser is active then it does drop back to the main screen until music starts playing again.
Is this the kind of thing that would show up in the logs as I'm intending on spending some time trying to figure this out today as it's starting to get annoying.
If anyone has any ideas if this new behaviour perhaps relates to a setting that would be great.

I've also tried adding all devices on AAudio Output and rebooted unit with same results. Mute with DVC off, nothing with DVC on.
Hi-Res Output did not function at all.

Hi Andre. This log was taken with all outputs set to default OpenSL ES Output just before making an outgoing call via my bluetoothed mobile.

I've also noticed in the Audio menu that it states Bluetooth is disconnected. (It's not) Unsure of what else I can try related to this as BT options on Android HU's are very limited and the Developer Options don't seem to relate to this particular problem.
-
Is there any way to grab the Last Processed Commands as a file or will a photo suffice?
-
I've tried swapping Wired Headset onto other output modes without success, as well as Bluetooth (unsure if Bluetooth is actually being used as an output as in this case the phone is transmitting the phone call to the headunit via BT, then output is thru wired headset isn't it?)
Can't see an Override listed, unless you mean "No Duck"
-
I've just been playing with DVC. If enabled, audio will pause very briefly, then return with noticeable volume increase (as expected). No DVC for Bluetooth Absolute Volume seems to make no difference even with Disable Absolute Volume enabled in developer options and BT toggled off / on.
I also noticed I have various different output options namely, OpenSL ES Output, AudioTrack Output, Hi-Res Output, AAudio Output. It seems you can assign different outputs such as wired headset (which my car speakers function as) Bluetooth, USB DAC, etc but I've not found changing these settings allows the PA to pause as required.
-
Same again. I've had a look in my unit's factory settings but nothing jumps out as being related to this feature.
Just to add... Poweramp pauses without issue when opening another app which plays audio. Just seems to be Bluetooth which can't activate pause for some reason.
-
Just checked this morning and that's how things are set unfortunately. Duck volume off (greyed out). Perm. Audio Focus Change on. Pause in call on. Short audio focus change / calls off.

Hi all,
Poweramp is my default media player on my Xtrons Android 10 (fudged to report as 11 I think) headunit. I'm having the issue that upon receiving or making a phone call via bluetooth, PA mutes rather than pauses the currently playing song. Before I disabled DVC, Poweramp would continue to play music alongside the phone call but ideally I'd like it to pause the track, as the options in settings I have enabled suggest should happen.
Does anyone know what combination of settings might work for me?
I can't find the post now (could have been on XDA) but I seem to remember reading a while back that there was some issue with certain Android headunits interpreting commands correctly, if anyone knows anything about that side of things.
Any help much appreciated,
-
Thank you Andre, I'll see how far I get.
-
Understood, however do you know the path for the library please? In the past despite not being rooted I've managed to get by using particular file managers.
-
Hi all,
In the absence of a full Titanium Backup solution on my now non-rooted car headunit, I'm wondering if I can backup the PA library, as I have mentioned in previous posts, I have a nearly full 512GB card inserted and it takes rather a long time to do a full scan.
I've looked in android/data/com.maxmpz.audioplayer but it only seems to contain album art and milk visualisers.
Thanks!

Thanks Andre,
Quick rescan is deffo not picking up on the deleted files on the SSD, although as you explain, as these changes have been made using a Windows PC, it's understandable.
A Full Rescan is just not something I want to do regularly as it can take upwards of 3/4 hour to complete and messes with album art choices, etc. I guess I'll just have to remember which files I've deleted and then manually delete the album entry in Poweramp after the fact.
Re: mounted drives, I've always understood that a USB connected drive would be classed as a mounted drive. Are you saying if I were to keep my media on a high speed MicroSD of suitable size and have that inserted directly into my headunit via the onboard slot, I might find that Poweramp library scans are quicker?
-
I use Poweramp on my car's Android headunit with a SSD connected via USB.
I deleted some MP3 files from the SSD to free up some space when it was connected to my desktop PC. When reconnected to my headunit, Poweramp's library obviously still shows the entries for the albums I deleted but of course is unable to find them.
I'm aware the best way to avoid this is to delete them via Poweramp itself, but I find this results in the actual MP3 files being removed with the containing folder left behind empty making it confusing what is / isn't already on the SSD when next adding files from my desktop.
AFAIK the "Rescan" option simply adds newly found files to the library and "Full Rescan" would delete the entire library requiring a very lengthy rescanning process.
Is there any way to clean the library of these orphaned entries?
Thanks for any assistance!

You can try this in a different use case:
In the main library, go to the Albums list. In the header, press the three-dot menu and choose List Options. Pick to Sort as By date added to Library, and make sure you check the Reverse box. This will put the most recently added albums at the top of the list. I'm not sure how this would be impacted if you run a Full Rescan, but it does work to do what you asked for otherwise.
Very clever! Thanks for the tip.

To add @andrewilley explanation, most times, songs are added individually at different time, days or even years as the case may be, so sorting Album by recently added is a difficult task, don't forget, even Artists release single(s) before the full album is released which most times are not in the same year.
So if you download the single, and later download the album at a different, how do you @Jonny G expect Poweramp or any offline music player to sort it?
If you are really interested in knowing when a file added (in this case, not an album) use a file explorer, but make sure you add them in a folder.

I was happy with the original explanation. I only add full albums to my storage so it wasn't outside the limits of my imagination that it might work differently to the way it does. But as I said, I accept that it won't function the way I'd like it to.
-
Thank you once more, good enough reason for me.
-
I've spent some time today seeing if its possible for the "Recently Added" library option to be sorted by album. So that instead of every individual track of a newly scanned batch of music being listed, just the albums themselves appear. I'm guessing not as I have tried a lot of different combinations to try and get this to happen with no joy, but just wondered if anyone has managed it.
Cheers!

Finally managed to try this and created a .nomedia file in the root of my SSD using Solid Explorer. However it disappears after a couple of seconds. Enabling view hidden files confirms it has likely been deleted.
I will try connecting the SSD to a PC and create the file from there and set as read only. Unless you have another suggestion?
Changing album art
in Using Poweramp - Q&A
Posted
From what I've read I figured that was the case. I'm aware there's a link earlier on explaining how PA selects the image it decides to use for the artist, however in practice there's nothing I can really do to influence this behaviour, unless anyone knows different.
It's deffo more of a niggle than a problem for me, hence my reluctance to spend time creating a folder full of album art that I then manually assign to the album artist list, but very interested if anyone has come up with a workaround.
