  1. Just wanted to say thanks for adding all the separate portrait and landscape settings. I was able to get everything dialed in to the way I like, both in portrait and landscape views. The only issue of mine that wasn't resolved is the Navbar issue, but that's so minor I'm not even going to worry about it. I currently have it set to "94" in landscape mode, which has a slight gap between it and the bottom of the screen. If I lower that value to 95, half the navbar is off the screen. So it's making an unusual leap from just 1 point difference. Again, not a big deal and it's fine the way I have it...just wanted to report it in case anyone else sees the same behavior. Appreciate all the work!
  2. Hey Theo, I updated YAPS and immediately notice a couple issues: 1) The "Height" setting is missing from the Resize Waveseek -> Portrait options. While I can now adjust the width for the Portrait view, which helps, it doesn't solve my problem with the height of the waveseek blocking the Artist/Track info. Thinking about it, I might prefer to simply disable the waveseek bar when in Portrait view due to space limitations. Is there currently a way to do that in Portrait view only? Might be nice to have the option for both ways, shrink height and disable entirely for portrait view. 2) The update caused my seekbar to shrink both in thickness and size (left to right). I was able to re-adjust the thickness back to what it was, but the size is now maxed out and is maybe 10-15% smaller than it was when you compare against my screenshot from a few posts ago.
  3. Ahhh...thanks for clarifying. This wasn't clear to me and I thought that was just the header for the screen. I also agree that should probably just be consolidated onto the same screen rather than a submenu. Perhaps there's even some design element you could use to visually denote and make it easily distinguishable that an item is a submenu, especially since those submenus are often interspersed with individual configuration items rather than all being grouped at the top (kinda like Windows file explorer where folders are always at top and files at the bottom). Just a suggestion. Anyways...back to the topic. Short answer is that this fixed my problem and created a new one. I have screenshots showing the progression with this setting. 1st screenshot below shows the layout before changes. 2nd screenshot shows the configuration page with settings used (Side note: dp values don't match the start and end values at the ends of the scale. You'll see the far right end of the scale is "400dp" despite my setting currently at 450dp" while not maxed out) 3rd screenshot is the end result of these settings. This pushed the waveseek bar and play buttons to the right, and you can see the elapsed and duration bubbles expand and move along with it. 4th screenshot shows the end result of moving the waveseek and play buttons back to the left and fiddling with the settings until everything is aligned pretty well. Even the elapsed and duration bubbles have expanded out to be more in line with where I would want them to be. So this solved both problems. The downside is that this f***ed up the Portrait view (5th screenshot). Without dedicated Landscape and Portrait view settings for resizing the waveseek bar, it's not possible to dial this in correctly. So I have to revert all these settings so that Portrait view is acceptable again.
  4. Per my response above, that setting does not apply to my issue. That setting affects the width of each individual bar within the waveseek bar, making the bars thinner or fatter, but it does not affect the width of the waveseek bar itself.
  5. I'm not sure I'm in the right place, but I found a "Waveseek Options" section under Fine tune. The first option there is "Waveseekbar width". Is this the setting you're referring to? I played around with this setting but it only adjusts the size of each individual bar within the waveseek bar...so that doesn't apply to this issue. Every setting I tried in this section modified the inside of the waveseek bar, but didn't actually adjust the width or height of the waveseek bar itself. I also don't see any option that has a setting relative to dpi, so I couldn't find one that maxed out at the value you stated. If I'm not in the right place, please advise where that setting is located. Thanks.
  6. I just emailed my 3rd party skins settings export to you. As an FYI - My head unit has a resolution of 1024 x 600 when in Landscape view (full screen), and 507 x 600 when in Portrait view (half screen/side by side with another app). This was based on information I gathered for you on a previous thread and I had used your resolution tool to gather that info. One other problem I should report, so I'll add this as #4: 4. The seekbar cannot be adjusted left/right. In the screenshot above, the left/right setting is set at "0" (or whatever the farthest left setting is, as far as the slider will go to the left). Changing this to any other value does not move or change the size of the seekbar. I was able to work around this problem, as I made some slight adjustments to the other elements to center everything. However, if that allowed me to adjust the positioning or sizing it would have saved me from re-adjusting everything else to compensate. Thanks.
  7. Hey guys, I could use some help dialing in my skin again. I was having some nagging minor issues and decided to wipe the slate clean. I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of both Poweramp and YAPS, and so everything was reset completely to defaults. I downloaded the current version of both. After enabling YAPS again and playing around with the settings and turning on DIY layout for landscape view, I was able to get both Portrait and Landscape views on my head unit to where I like things, but a few minor nuisances remain: The spectrum (waveseek?) showing behind the play buttons used to stretch the entire width of the play button area. Even pictures on this page above show this. For whatever reason, mine only stretches between the middle 3 buttons and not all 5 buttons. Is there a way to adjust this? The elapsed and duration buttons are fully tethered to the waveseek and play buttons, and so the placement of these buttons is now severely limited. The duration button used to be located at the far right of the seekbar, and the elapsed button could be dialed in to either go all the way to the left of the screen or precisely at the left end of the seekbar. As you can see in the screenshot below, this is the absolute best I can dial this in to. It just doesn't look good, and as much as I want this information on the screen I'd rather just disable it because of how it looks. And the interesting thing is that this problem doesn't exist on the Portrait view...I can't adjust the left and right at all, but by default it's spaced perfectly on the sides of the seekbar. I can't dial in the Navbar at the bottom in Landscape view. If I set the up/down value to 94 it looks exactly as shown in the screenshot below. If I move it down one point to 95, the navbar is half off the screen. By comparison, the same setting in Portrait view works as expected and I was able to perfectly lower it to close that gap. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  8. In case this helps, the head unit is not shutting down...it's going into a sleep mode. It only shuts down when I manually do so like a full reset for some reason, or if the power is lost such as the battery getting disconnected for some type of maintenance. A full system reset takes somewhere around 45 seconds and shows all the boot screens as the launcher loads, and I would notice this if it were happening. When I start the car, it takes about 3-4 seconds for it to resume and Poweramp is still running.
  9. I can try this for testing, but is there a way around this? Not sure how to play around with the shutdown intent setting that was mentioned. Even if this solved my problem by manually pausing the song, that really defeats the purpose of using this as a replacement for a typical head unit where this isn't a problem. I'm also going to look at an option in the head unit that sounds like it prevents the unit from going to sleep. I'm going to have to use this cautiously as I don't want my battery to die. So I'll have to monitor battery usage. Less of an issue since I drive so regularly, but a concern nonetheless.
  10. After monitoring for the past week, I can say that this has not resolved the issue, but has certainly greatly reduced the occurrences. I think this has happened to me twice since enabling that setting, and that's out of the dozen plus times I've used my car in the past week. Even though it's still happening, a couple times is definitely a LOT nicer than this happening every single time I start the car.
  11. My version (957) has it located where you stated. I have enabled this setting and kept an eye on it for a couple days. Early indications are that it fixed 1 of the 2 problems related to this. Since enabling this setting, when turning on my car, the album artwork remains...I haven't yet seen that default placeholder when there's no cover. So that's looking positive. The remaining problem is that it is still not retaining the place in the song. I don't recall offhand if it's resetting to the beginning of the song or skipping to the next song. It was inconsistent before. I'm going to keep monitoring, and I'll keep a closer eye on both. Thanks for the suggestion.
  12. There is no such setting. That's why I figured you were referring to the 3 settings I listed above. My About shows I'm on version build-957-bundle-play
  13. "Keep Notification" and "Always Keep Notification" are both enabled. "Remove Notification on Disconnection" is disabled and sounds like it doesn't apply here. But should I try enabling it?
  14. Except you didn't provide the name of the setting or its location I appreciate everyone's help here. It's just funny that I first raised this issue a year ago in this thread, and it took this long to get here.
  15. Son of a... This whole time the setting I needed was in the base app and not the skin. Thank you so much for this. I like the look of setting Background Intensity to 75%. Also toyed around with the Background Blur setting a tad. Got it dialed in just where I like it. Thanks!!
  16. Sounds like my only option might be to disable that dynamic background and use a single static color. Obviously that just looks...drab. Was really hoping for something to be implemented like the Kenwood screenshot I provided, but I understand the difficulties here.
  17. There are LOTS of album covers out there I suppose that's the ultimate problem here is that if it's not possible to put a tint or some type of overlay over the dynamic album cover background, there's always going to be a conflict with some album artwork and the text. Changing the text from black to gray will cause a conflict with covers that are all gray. It's pretty easy to find at least one album cover for any given conflict in this scenario just in my library. There are a LOT of album covers that are almost entirely white in my library alone. Here are a couple that would cause issues with gray text.
  18. What skin are you using? I don't suppose you have any albums with a full white or black background that you could show as an example? Such as the self-titled albums from The Beatles and Metallica:
  19. What exactly are the car layouts supposed to bring to the table in regards to this specific issue? Here's a snapshot of what both car modes look like on my head unit using the same song as an example.
  20. I understand that setting a background element for the text solves this problem, but it just doesn't look good, especially in split-screen mode. I'm not asking for a dynamic color selection. Are there other available options I'm missing that I can test? Let me show again how this looks on my head unit so that it may help illustrate why it doesn't look good: I'm comparing all of this against a previous Kenwood head unit I had. It applied the exact same logic as far as taking the album cover, applying it as a background, and applying a blur over it...creating a dynamic background. However, it also applied what I'll simply call a "tint" on top of that to prevent this exact problem from occurring. So on a completely white cover art, the entire thing will be blurred, but perhaps tinted 5% so that even an all white cover would be slightly darker so that white text would show over it. I'll grab this from the original post I linked above: Just looking to see if a similar option could be added to support this. It sounded like it was potentially feasible since the response I received was below. So I just wanted to check on this again. Thanks.
  21. Respectfully, that's not actually a solution. In any given music library, the various cover art will ultimately span the spectrum of colors. If you were to set a specific color for the text, you would eventually hit some cover art that matches the color of the text and would produce the same problem. I found my original post where I provided a suggestion. We had a dialog back and forth, after which you stated that you were looking into setting an opaque cover blur and adding it to the to-do list. The bottom of the 3 pictures posted there shows an old Kenwood unit that does what I'm requesting...just to provide a visual. Thanks and keep up the great work.
  22. Hey guys, I know this has been brought up before, but I don't recall if it was stated whether this could be fixed or not. Is it possible that a setting can be added to fix/adjust this? Any album that has a white cover, the white text for the track/artist/album info gets completely lost. Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here. Obviously I'm reminded every time a song plays from an album with a white or extremly bright cover.
  23. (1) What exactly is the purpose behind this shutdown intent option? Is this supposed to shutdown PA when the head unit goes to sleep mode? That's not what I would want here, as that means when I restart the car PA isn't running and it would put me at the home screen, and then I'd have to manually start my music again. If I'm misunderstanding the purpose here, and it's beneficial to test, I can do so. With that said, I haven't tried this, and I have no idea what text to enter into this box for testing. I don't think this is the solution I'm looking for, but willing to try. (2) Of the options you listed, the only one I hadn't disabled again was Auto-Scan. I turned that off and went back to the native file mode instead of legacy, and the behavior is the exact same. When the head unit comes back on the album art is lost and it skips to the next track. In native file mode there's no workaround for getting the album art back. Also, if I skip ahead, future tracks have art, and if I skip backward, all previous tracks lost their artwork. File Access Legacy Mode certainly works better here simply because there's a manual workaround to recover the artwork as stated in my previous post, and it only affects 1 track. But neither are really working properly here. Resume on Start was already enabled, as was Wait for Storage. I also have the "Pause on Screen Off" experimental option enabled. Only new info I can add here is when I disabled File Access Legacy Mode, re-added the folders, rescanned my USB flash drive, and ensured auto-scan was off, I then tested turning the head unit on/off multiple times. First test I removed the key, waited 15 seconds, then reinserted and went to accessory mode to turn on the head unit. The artwork was fine and the track continued from where it left off. I turned and removed the key, waited 30-45 seconds, and did the same test with the same results. Then I turned and removed the key, waited 10 mins, and this time it said "Failed to play item" and skipped to the next track. Album artwork was gone for it and all previous tracks, but skipping ahead to future tracks would show the artwork. It seems to me that the "Wait for Storage" option isn't actually waiting for the storage. Is it possible this wasn't designed with "USB" storage in mind? I'm at a loss as to why the artwork would disappear. I've reverted back to enabling and using File Access Legacy Mode. Any other thoughts or suggestions? Let me know if you'd like any debug logs. Thanks.
  24. Adjusted title of post to reflect both issues caused by this problem. I wanted to provide some additional detail for changes I've made and further troubleshooting attempted. A few months back I upgraded the firmware of my head unit, which caused a full Android reset back to factory settings. I basically started from scratch with a brand new Poweramp and YAPS build. This time I was determined to find a fix for why I was being forced to use file access Legacy Mode, as the other mode simply would not see my files. I understand that Legacy Mode is going away, so I wanted to figure this out as well. Ultimately I fixed the issue and was able to use the default mode. However, once doing so, the orignal reported problem above got so much worse. When the head unit came out of sleep mode (i.e. I started the car), I saw a minimum of 3 problems in various times: Album artwork lost with no way to recover. Workarounds listed above did not work in this mode. Track progress lost Entire library lost multiple times, caused frequent re-scans, and sometimes a change in number of songs detected All of this forced me to revert back to Legacy Mode. So the first thing I want to say here is "PLEASE do not remove Legacy Mode from Poweramp!!" With that being done and reverting back to Legacy Mode, it's working better, which is to say I'm back to square one with my original post. The album art being lost is an annoyance, and I'm used to performing my workaround everytime I start the car. What's more annoying is that the track progress is lost...it either resets back to the start of the track, or skips to the next track while flashing a quick message stating something like "failed to play back item". Again, I could be wrong, but this all seems to point to Android disconnecting the USB storage while in sleep mode and/or Poweramp not being able to handle that accordingly. Any suggestions? Is a fix possible? Is there another way to look at this for resolution? Thanks.
