Multiple lines title in listing view

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I would like to request a feature that displays multiple lines of titles in the listing view, with or without the album name.

Classical music often has long titles, including composers, forms, numbers, keys, and movements, which are too long to display on a single line, especially given that current mobiles are getting longer and slimmer.

When inside the album view, the album titles and images are redundant for each item, so displaying multiple lines should be very suitable here.

Examples of long titles:

  • Johannes Brahms: Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77: III. Allegro giocoso, ma non troppo vivace - Poco più presto
  • Beethoven: Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Op. 68 - "Pastoral" - III. Lustiges Zusammensein der Landleute. Allegro

The was a request a while back to make any long titles in list auto-scroll like they do in the Player Screen, but this was rejected as the layout would look very confusing with lots of titles scrolling back and forth at the same time.

I can't see that this should be too difficult to implement technically in some of the larger List formats (where there is enough space to allow for an extra line when needed) but it could make the view a bit more cluttered and less elegant - albeit more useful.

Thanks for your response.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. The feature I requested is to support multiple lines of text in the listing view, as demonstrated in the new Apple Music Classical[1]. Of course, if multiple lines of title could also be displayed on the player screen, that would be welcome as well[2].
