Android 8.1 - faster battery drain

Recommended Posts

While in hi-res mode, Poweramp takes 4x of its usual CPU usage, it's still one of the most power-efficient player out there.

Poweramp differs from most other players as it has its own audio engine, that means all audio processing, except the output itself, happens in Poweramp process.

Poweramp process obviously need to be active all the time it's playing something, while other player may need to submit file to play to system media process time-to-time and that system process does all the heavy lifting for them.

This is why Poweramp process, when playing (and is on background) will appear as "draining" as it's active, not sleeping. It does all the audio processing heavy-lifting, and Android media process is inactive, except audio output layer.
