Oneplus One(CM12) battery drops while playing tracks

Battery drops and the device gets too hot to handle while using default output option - OpenSL ES Output to play tracks with wired headset. Things get better when I switch to Hi-Res output.

My device is Oneplus One with CM12(5.0.2). Does anyone happen to have the same issue as I do? Or shall I change some settings to get things right?

This never happened when I use the 2.x version.

Never had such an issue but then again, your OS version is pretty old, Cyngn has released COS 13 and even before that there's been 12.1 for months, neither of which had any such issue.

My advice, save whatever you don't want to lose and then upgrade/factory reset your phone to either of those versions. If you like all the extra stuff Cyngn has added to COS then go for 12.1, if not, COS 13 is basically just CMod13, pretty bare except for the GApps.

On average Android device, OpenSL is a bit more battery effective than AudioTrack output.

There is a catch, though - the Low Latency mode - which is power demanding, and quite buggy on most devices. It's not needed for music playing and Poweramp takes special steps to avoid falling into Low Latency mode, still, for your device/ROM it obviously fails. I recommend using AudioTrack or Hi-Res output in this case.

Thanks for your advice man. I tried to update the OS for several times but failed for some GApps compatible issues. I'll try again later.

I feel like I'm an old man now, only want a stable OS to stuck with. :D

Thanks for your reply dude. I'll try Feilakas' advice to update to CM13 first to see if it can make things right.

Niro, it would be a good idea not to try to update the current OS but instead completely replacing it with a new one.

If you don't know how to do that either head over to XDA or OnePlus' forums.
