Well, thing is, either you convert to another lossy format and lose quality, which on earlier recordings can make them damn near unlistenable, or you convert to something like FLAC but end up with larger file sizes. In the end it would be nice to play them natively (especially knowing ffmpeg has a pretty good decoder). So, you're right but it's not really ideal.

Agreed, would love atrac support as well. There are at least dozens of us! Dozens! Though you can forget playing .omg, those are encrypted and only playable on your PC.
