Why not  use the song title then for the album name in your tag? Effectively, an album comprising 1 track with the song title as the album name, along with all the other tags filed in accordingly; Artist, Album Artist, Year, etc.

That would blow the list of albums (in Poweramp and other library-based players) out of proportions.

Well I'd say that's certainly up for debate!

No track number#, album name, or album artist, in a folder view nested in '2020' year category, that is an unknown album, containing one song (but also dozens), by 50 cent..

I don't think thorough means what you think it means.

I am afraid you dont understand the situation. There are cases when I like a single track on an album. That is when I dont keep an entire album on my storage. And since I do not want the single song to make impression in my library that I have an entire album, I leave tags related to album empty. Sure, most of these songs were released on an album and I can find out this information on Wikipedia or Discogs, but I do not want my library to take this information in account.

Do you suggest to change tagging of such songs? How specifically?

This song is listed under an album where the header clearly shows the year as 2020. What tags are you using to show these separately? A single album cannot have different release dates.

This is a non-album track. It is placed in V.A. folder with dozens of other tracks from different artists and years. Album tags are empty in these files. Album Artist tags are filled with "No Album Artist[s]". Could this be the cause?

I decided to share another, free track, in its original folder structure (Music.zip), with the same problem, so everybody can check all MP3 tags and file specs on his side.

I see no reason to categorize this track to year "2020" in Poweramp. It has to be a bug or flawed feature of the app.

This is a quick way to cause file errors at a minimum, or brick a card if it is writing index updates when it gets removed without unmounting it while the device is on. Eject the card using the settings, or power the device down first.

It started to disconnect by its own many weeks ago. I wouldn't experiment with it if it wasn't already dying. Instead of a crash, I would like to see a warning like "Memory card disconnected. Do not remove the card without unmounting it first. If you did not disconnected it yourself, it might be a sign of the card failing. " in Poweramp. Thanks for your hint though.

@andrewz If storage unmounts, or a filesystem error is encountered during playback, PA should first try to skip the problem song and then after a few consecutive skipped songs it should give up and stop playback. It should not crash though.

    Andre

Although faulty microSD card or reader should be primarily blamed in my case, Poweramp build 981 really crashed when I play something from my (occasionally faulty) card and physically remove its tray while playing.

It turned out that part of syncing my Android device to Google account is not power management settings. After the reset, I set power saving features again to not interrupt with Poweramp. Some of the issues may be caused with that. I will report my findings later.

P.S.: How about some kind of warning when first launching Poweramp? "For uninterrupted playback, turning off power saving features on your phone may be required. Do you want to check it out right now?"

Sorry for blaming Poweramp for my issues. There's clearly something wrong with my microSD card that keeps disconnecting. When playing content from the card that gets disconnected, it leads to Poweramp crash.

Even after resetting my Xperia 10 IV on Android 14, I continue to have these issues with the latest beta build:

    - playback does not start after I connect my wired headphones, even though setting is correct

    - memory card keeps disconnecting

    - I'm getting crashes (sorry, no crash log)

@andrewz That would be up to the skin you are using. The two default skins use full-width anyway as the Lyrics and Settings buttons, if enabled, are overlaid over the album art area anyway.

    Andre

I understand the state depends on selected skin and it's settings. Nevertheless, I find the current default skin imperfect in this regard. The strange thing is: when I align labels to the left ("default" instead of "centered"), labels are displayed over the entire width of the screen. I will probably stick to "default" now, although I would prefer "centered" with labels using the entire width.

@andrewz Poweramp locks rotation when menu/dialog is shown.

This is not the case. What I'm saying also does not apply to Settings, which is always in portrait. I'm talking about main screen or library without any pop-up menu. The rotation does not work properly and reliably. Sometimes it does, but most of time not. Changing the related settings seems to provoke the bug.

I deleted app data and reinstalled the app today. The result is the same. There is something wrong with 971-976 in this regard. Please investigate.

  11. Yesterday, I noticed there is something wrong with Poweramp when rotating the phone (the app stays in portrait mode, even when settings is "default"). Today I restarted my phone and it seemed to fix the issue. But when I changed the related setting, I'm stuck at portrait again.

Edit: Sony Xperia 10 IV with Android 13 and latest updates. All sensors seem to work well (except in Poweramp).

@andrewz lyrics_short is used for that menu only. There is just "lyrics" label which is used anywhere else: https://crowdin.com/translate/Poweramp-player/6927/enus-cs?filter=basic&value=0#635052 - this one has no length limit.

I solved it for Czech. However, I cannot fix it for other mentioned languages, since I cannot speak these. Thanks and sorry for the confusion.

The last thing that needs resolution is that song/songs discrepancy (my last screenshot). Will we go andrewilley's way?

@andrewz As for menu label widths - menu uses lyrics_short label, which is specifically shorter and fits menu quite nice.

If I'm correct, the same string from track menu (shown on my Moby's South Side screenshot) is also used in Settings –> Look and Feel. That is the problem. For Czech, translating "Lyrics" as just "Text" make sense in the first case, since it is clearly related to a specific track, but in the second case, it would be confusing and I would rather use "Text skladby" there. Making specific string for each case would also be solution, but app code would have to be changed.

  14. Hi maxmp, it's andrewz here, the perfectionist who bothers you in the last few weeks with Czech translation 🙂 In these days, I'm testing my first draft of the translation within the app. That means that I learn more and more about Poweramp – I'm visiting deep menus that I've never visited and try options I've never tried before.

I noticed now (I'm talking about latest beta, I'm not sure about older builds) that touch targets of these sliders (first screenshot below, sections Background Details, Background Intensity etc. in Settings -> Background) are very small. When I want to change it with my finger, I miss it in like 50 percent of cases. Could you please enlarge these touch targets?

I would also like you to ask you to increase space (by decreasing padding? or by increasing box width? or by making more lines?) for strings on the screen shown below (Main Screen -> long press on the album art or short press on the menu button). I'm especially concerned about the "Lyrics" string. In many translations (Czech: Text skladby, Polish: Tekst utworu, Danish: Sangtekster), it's much longer (+6, +6, +5 letters) and does not fit. Since the same string is also used in other places of Poweramp unrelated to specific track, making the translation shorter (and less accurate) is a no-go.

Edit: I would also like to remind this discrepancy I brought up on Crowdin, since it might be rather related to code than strings (and since Crowdin does not allow embedded images). I rather did not change anything in translation and I'm awaiting your statement.

Thanks and sorry for bothering you!

  15. I was affected by deactivation of the app due to license issues many times in the past, but I always explained it to myself that I probably reinstalled or updated the app via Google Play before and forgot to validate the app online. Now I had the same issue and I'm very sure that nothing from this http://support.powerampapp.com/knowledgebase/articles/323557-is-internet-connection-required happened. Luckily, I was able to note what exactly happened.

I've always used wi-fi connection to go to internet. That's how my last activation was made. Now I had to use mobile data connection for a while and did not launch the app during this period. My data limit was exceeded and I had to turn my data connection off. I did not go online or launch the app since then. Today I was offline, listened to music via Poweramp and it got deactivated again due to license issues. Luckily, there was a wi-fi connection available, so I turned wi-fi on and solved the problem. But in many cases, I get license error and have no chance to get connected to the internet, so I have to use default music player with poor sound quality. That suck pretty hard. If I had permanent connection, I would use Spotify, not my own offline library played in Poweramp.

If you as a developer cannot fix the licence issues, please don't punish us, your paying customers, by making playback impossible. There are less invasive ways how to limit operation of the app if it is not activated, like prohibit library changes or settings changes.

I listen to music stored on SD card via Poweramp 2.0.10 build 588 on my LG (Optimus in some territories) L90 D405n with stock Android Lollipop 5.0.2 (the latest official release).
