      Poweramp v3 Project Update   04/24/2017

As you may be aware, the Poweramp developer has been working hard on an updated material design user interface for Poweramp v3 which required a full ground-up rebuild of the code. It is hoped this will be ready for final beta-testing by the end of the May. See forum thread for more details and to discuss.

  1. Hello everybody, I have a problem that's been bugging me since forever. I'm currently using Poweramp v3 alpha-703 with the full version 2-build-26 unlocker (bought from the Play-Store) on my HTC One M8 (EU version, unlocked) with Lineage OS 14.1 (Nightly 20170406) and no matter what I do or change I hear a popping noise in quiet parts of all my MP3s. HERE'S AN EXAMPLE RECORDING (You can hear it around the 3 sec mark). It's much more pronounced in reality and seems to be in the lower frequencies. I had the same issue running CyanogenMod 13 a few weeks ago (just switched to LOS 14.1 recently). I have the same issue across all my headphones (Audio-Technica M50X & AD700X / Zero Audio ZH-DX200-CT / Superlux HD668B). Both DVC enabled and disabled don't change the result. I'm not using the EQ of Lineage OS (AudioFX) and have disabled PowerAmps build in EQ. I'm using the SoX Resampler with a 95% Cutoff Frequency, default settings don't remove the popping. I'm using the OpenSL ES Output, EQ/Tone disabled, default Buffer Size (increasing buffer size didn't fix it). Using Wakelock and Keep Service in the Misc Tweaks doen't fix the issue. Other Music/Video Players don't have this issue (tested VLC & MX Player, Google Play Music, CM Eleven) My MP3 files are usually 44.1KHz 320Kbps, sometimes lower quality, they are not corrupted and play without this pop-noise on other devices/players. I have granted Poweramp all permissions (Phone & Storage), neither the internal storage nor my SD-Card are encrypted. Since I usually use an SD-Card I put my files on the internal storage of my device and played them from there, the issue persisted. I've uninstalled/reinstalled both Poweramp and the Unlocker multiple times, I have wiped my Device, App and ART/Dalvic cache several times. Please someone suggest something that I have not tried yet, I'm starting to lose my mind here. Poweramp is by far the best Android music player I've come across, I actually baught it twice, once from the official website and then again from the playstore to try if the updated Unlocker would change anything (it didn't obviously). If someone told me that the issue is my current OS or some missing HTC audio driver I'd be at least somewhat relieved, then I could try using another ROM or Viper4Android but those are time consuming to switch to and I'd rather keep my current config. Thank you for reading, any and all input is very much appreciated. A&B - Surge (Test Recording).m4a

  3. Hi, This topic is a quick follow up to the bug report I filed using the recommended google form. Basically :playback (whatever music style / file format /lossy / lossless / anything that plays in Poweramp) on the new Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is horrible. There is a background noise / noise floor (i'm not sure what's the proper audiogeek wording) which occures. Edit : forgot to mention it disabling "Direct Volume Control" removes this noise problem (but also reduces the sound stage and overall sound quality, which is why I use Poweramp in the first place) I am using Westone W60 IEMs so background noise is of course pretty audible when it occures (I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy Nexus ; Poweramp never EVER generated such a high level of noise floor on my old device) Any other player app (tested : sony's preinstalled Walkman / Google Play Music / MX Player) do not output such noise. I'm getting my phone replaced just to be sure it is not hardware fault. However, it has been confirmed on XDA by someone else. (see link below) Also, I talk about the issue in this XDA thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/horrendeous-noize-t2935150 Please fix !! Can provide any log / debug info if required. Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi Everyone I don't know if this is Poweramp bug or device inheritance, anyway, when we connect the device to an audio amplifier via 3.5mm output, an unpleasant pop noise is heard after some delay whenever westop or pause, and immediately when the list is finished. This noise can be harmful to speaker system if the amplifier volume is set high. Please use some muting techniques on the part of Poweramp to avoid this annoyance. This bug has persisted even with the latest version of Poweramp, 2.0.9-build-534. Thanks for any help. Device Info: Samsung GT-S6802 Android Ver. 2.3.6, Build GINGERBREAD.JPLK4 Kernel Ver. 2.6.35.7
  5. Two problem

Hello,I want to ask two problems;I'm going to library and select 'Recently Added' list. And click first song in the list. Shuffle setting is closed. I'm listen the song and make an evaluation, delete or skip next track. In this situation after 4 or 5 tracks Poweramp start to playing top of the list. Cannot continue last listening track. This is a boring thing. My Device is Samsung Note 2 (N7100) and I want to use popular kernel Agni for battery and performance gains. In stock 4.4, many custom 4.4 and last CM12 beta ROM, kernel cause strange sound problem with and without direct sound mode in headphone attached Poweramp. I'm started to listening music and nearly after 15-20 minutes, music stopped and strange noise started with maximum volume can damage the ear. After removing earphones for 10 second and plugged in, music resume from last time.Thank you.
  6. I've been using Poweramp for a while now. Previously I used it with my Galaxy S i9000, where everything worked fine. Recently I upgraded to a Nexus 5, and I'm experiencing audio glitches during playback. It happens randomly every 4 or so songs, it's difficult to describe the sound but something weird defiantly happens. It doesn't matter which song I play, and sometimes it can be 5-6 songs with no glitches at all. They aren't longer then half a second, but still ruining the listening experience. As far as I can tell it only happens with Poweramp. I've just tried listening to roughly 2 hours with Google Play Music, and no glitches so far. As I said, I'm using a Nexus 5, currently running newest version of SlimKat (weekly) with ElementalX Kernel. I've also tried it with Linaro and Code Blue kernel on SlimKat. Likewise with ParanoidAndroid and Linaro/ElementalX kernel. Can't remember anything about stock Android, since I rooted pretty quickly.
