In my opinion many people would appreciate multiple tagging... I have no computer access and everytime there are no tags it's really bothersome to fill it all one by one. If it's possible, could you please try implementing it inside next version?

By the way I'm really big fan of your player, it's the only app I ever paid for... It's totally worth it. Thanks for the awesome player you provide us.

Thanks for reading, I'll welcome any reply.

PA is really a music player, not a batch file editor. You can start to bloat apps with things that are perhaps best left to more specialist software. Have a search in the Play store, there are lots out there for Android, you don't need a PC (although that would be easier).

NONE of them.

high quality playback path for more devices is my first pick. be it hi-res path, SRC-less offload path, or whatever, I'm sure the great devs at maxmp know them by heart.

personally I brought Poweramp for 3 reasons:

1. the best format support on android. most players simply failed in this regard.

2. complete output customization capability, i mean playback paths/sample rates/volume control/buffer size/etc. various filters are a nice bonus but they are not essential and i actually don't care.

3. ability to manage huge collections by providing many ways to navigate them, and to customize things like sorting. most players are impossible to navigate hundreds of albums efficiently.

if Poweramp keep on improving in those areas, even if I have to buy again to upgrade to a new version, I will buy the upgrade. and I will continue recommend Poweramp to other music lovers.

if Poweramp cannot continue to lead competitors in one or two of those areas, even as I already have a license, I will try to find alternatives and probably switch. and I will persuade others to do the same.

I think, many people will agree with me

Request for option to blur lock screen cover art.

Usual lock screen: look at this cover with pixels, art is strached by the way!! It doesn't seem to be beautiful

For example, Blackplayer (that's NOT the AD) have this option. Just install and see difference between typical player without blur option and Blackplayer. It makes lock screen more esthetic.

Summing up, blur option for lock screen cover art is just simple but makes lock screen much more fabulous :)

Thank you!

So, could I ask for a show of hands for this being the most important new feature that needs adding...?

Andre

I didn't mentioned this feature as the most important, but i mentioned it as the simple feature that makes player more individual and exotic (also it makes player UI more beautiful )

For me, the most important missing feature is one that has been requested several times over the last few years: Overlap/Radio Crossfade, i.e. the ability to pre-scan from a certain point in Track A for the point where audio reaches a preset low dB threshold, setting a fade out length for Track A, and having Track B start up at full volume within the fade out, so that there are seamless breaks between tracks, without using fade in at all. Many others have described it better on these boards, but the way that Continuator for Foobar2000 works would be the ideal.

I know I'll probably be flamed for asking this, but is this app still in active development? Not even a test build since April last year would suggest not...

Yes, it is. Max (the sole dev of Poweramp) is working on the updated 'material design' user interface at the moment, which appears to have been the most popular requested item in this thread. However it required a rebuild from the ground up and is taking a long time. He indicated that he hopes to have it ready for beta release sometime this month.

Personally I wish people had wanted real new incremental features instead of just asking to change the appearance of the whole app, but that's not how the vote went.

Thanks Andre,

Good to know, and I agree with you - I would rather new features than new look.

Thanks for the feedback. While I disagree with you about the icremental updates the problem was not what we wanted. Ofc if Max is developing alone it's gonna take time and it's understandable. The problem was that those months we had no serious feedback from him. No updates no words nothing. It was like he left the forum to die. This is why people kept asking if the app is still in active development. I take it that Max is not a talkative person but sometimes a small feedback now and then won't hurt. I'm looking forward to see his work and try out the Beta when it's ready ofc.

As of incremental features, some ideas of mine:

0. Automatic sample rate for high-res path, that is auto select target sample rate based on content, and fallback to a pre-defined sample rate like it is now in case the playback fails, to avoid SRC as much as possible (SoX is a great resampler but no resampling is better still). bit depth can be fixed to 24bit though.

1. Add alphabetic index letters to long lists, to navigate faster.

2. Use of back button:

  • go back to previous list from player UI (now it's back to launcher)
  • go back to launcher from top level list for each category, eg. album list, all songs list, folder list, etc. and remember which category the user was using.

I found this interaction more intuitive, and more consistant with 1st party apps like Google Music, YouTube.

3. Make repeat mode and shuffle mode buttons smaller, I think they are not very frequently changed options, and their current size/location is too prone to mis-touch.

Hope those personal ideas made some sense to a little degree...Thanks!

BTW, Maybe we can start a thread to collect incremental feature wishes with open questions? and ask users to rate the value of each wish to them, in unit of dedicated time to wait for that feature. I guess some people choose material design thinking that as an easy minor change.

for example, I would rate forementioned features as: [0] three months. [1] two weeks. [2]  [3] one week. [material design] two weeks.

I would happily sacrifice 1/2/3 altogether in exchange for some progress on 0.

Actually you can set that one yourself, change Poweramp Settings >Look and Feel > General > Startup Screen to Last Played List (or Library or Folder).

One thing that I really miss here, and the only thing that keeps me jumping between this app and others (it's been like this for longer than a year now) is the ability to edit the upcoming queue more freely: being able to reorder the songs, add songs/albums to it directly after the song that's playing now... It's hard to explain for me, but if you try BlackPlayer (either vanilla or the EX version) you'll see what I mean. In my opinion that is a superb way of using a playing queue. Aside from that, everything is fine right now (wouldn't mind if you implemented skins for the alpha soon, I'm not a big fan of the vanilla look), but I love the app, it's definitely my favourite in many aspects.

actually, that depends only on the art res. I use 1000x1000 pixel images at least, and that gets rid of any kind of blurriness, since any image larger than your screen size will get reduced (my phone has a 2k display and it looks simply gorgeous) you can easily do this with a tag edition app/program. you can download hi res cover arts here: Album Art Exchange

Imo, the most critical feature Poweramp should include (or rather fix) to become the Foobar2000 of Android is a fully functional external USB DAC support.

This issue still bugs me hard as I now use my USB DAC everytime for listening sessions, indoor and outdoor, meaning Poweramp only serves me for checking ReplayGain values and recently added files (and I would want to do much more from it) :

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm really surprised at the seeming lack of concern regarding cloud storage accessibility through PA: let's see, we love it because it's faultlessly capable with all sorts of HD playback, but where are we supposed to put a decent collection of such large files? And why am I supposed to fumble with SD cards to switch between devices when I have a high data limit and 220gb of FLAC (even some HD) sitting on a OneDrive I get for free? Literally, the ability to access that cloud storage will determine if I use PA again. A new skin is apparently very important to a lot of users, but at what cost to PA's competitiveness? I'd much rather face adding PA's quality audio to an existing, working cloud-capable player than come at it the other way around.

I am now using the 703 beta app and it does not have controls enabled in Android Lock Screen which was available in previous stable build release. So I would like to have it back. And hope you guys release v3 soon with whole new cool features. Fan of Poweramp player.
