Skip tracks with volume button

Is it possible to make the volume button skip tracks with a long hold? It's a lot better then having to turn on the screen everytime you want to play the next song or go back one. Thanks

It's actually a ROM dependant feature. Look for an option called "Playback control"... for example, in the ROM I'm using it's in the "Buttons" section, "Volume Buttons" subsection.

 

 

EDIT: this is assuming that OP means changing the song with the volume buttons of the phone, not of the earphones.

Yes, that would be a good solution too - but installing a custom ROM top modify the volume button function is a rather more drastic solution than installing a small app.

I don't know what phone/ROM has the OP.

I didn't say "you must install a custom ROM!". I just said that depending on the ROM he/she has, there may be the option to enable it without extra apps.

 

For example, in MIUI there's no such option and one has to resort to those extra apps.

I downloaded an app called pocket skip track but looks like I need to root the phone for the long press to work. Currently it only works w a double tap, but not a huge fan of that.
