License Verification question

Recommended Posts

How often does Poweramp need to verify license? In my opinion it should only verify once. My problem is, I work in a building that does NOT allow data connection on my phone. Sometimes while at work I plug my headphones in and Poweramp cant verify license so I have to wait till I go outside on my break so I can connect data and verify license. This is very inconvenient. Why must it verify license so often? Is there a way around this?

See http://support.powerampapp.com/knowledgebase/articles/323557-is-internet-connection-required, where the following is listed:

Poweramp Unlocker:

- for Play purchase license is checked via Internet in first 24 hours after Unlocker installation and Poweramp next start, and if the Google Play Store check is successful, then it's never checked again, unless Poweramp is reinstalled, system is reset, or ROM is updated

Is your experience different from the above? If so, please submit a bug report via the Get Support feature within the app (Settings > Get Support > (menu button) > Contact Us)

Just had this after using PA for a couple of years. Never had a problem before but today it came back with 'Failed to verify license. error_contacting_server - Google Play reponse'. Now there is no problem with Google Play as I'm at home  sat next to my wifi router and I can browse the Play Store fine.  And why, if the FAQ says that the server is only contacted just after installation, is it now failing after 3 1/5 years (just checked - got the license in Dec 2010).

I was out earlier in the car where wifi is always off and mobile data is either off OR I do not have a mobile signal at all due to being in Cornwall (SW of the UK) where the signal is "variable". No problem then. Just now with a full wifi signal.

But WHY does it check????

Right. Uninstalled the Poweramp unlocker and re-installed it as mentioned in the FAQ (? - or somewhere) and we are now working again. However, it'd be great to have a definitive answer as to when/how often Poweramp 'phones home'. As I state above, the mobile signal where I live is very patchy and I don't want to have PA quit on me just because it can't find a 3G or wifi connection.

Thanks in advance.

Dave
