Album Artist option

I'm sure this has been mentioned a lot over the years, but an Album Artist category of song arrangement would be great.

 

Not to be confused with the 'albums by artist' category'

 

Essentially, it is the way the 'albums' category is organised on an Apple device. The feature is mainly helpful with compilations where it may be compiled by a single artist with various other artists' songs in the compilation. The option to set an album artist tag is present in programs such as iTunes and also in windows explorer via properties and then details.

 

For example, if I was listening to an episode of A State of Trance which is mixed by Armin van Buuren (all songs in the 2 hour episode are split into individual mp3 files) there would be various songs by different artists, but I would tag the album artist as 'Armin van Buuren' to help with organsiation and the album would appear with his name under it rather than the name of the first featured artist in the album.

And, for what it's worth, Media Monkey for Android appears to handle sorting by Album Artist like a champion. I'd love to stick with Poweramp-- at this point more out of familiarity than any other feature-- but waiting indeed for years to have Album Artist implemented is starting to wear a little thin if competing apps can do it instead right this very moment!
