Loud Buzzing When Switching Tracks

I'm using Poweramp in conjunction with bluetooth to transmit audio to my hifi via a bluetooth receiver. When I switch tracks manually or select any sort of function, like go to equalizer, I get about a second of loud buzzing before operation continues normally. This does not happen using the tablet's in-built speaker (no bluetooth). It does not happen when I use the same version of Poweramp on my Nexus 5 phone. I've tried using different BT receivers but no difference. I tried installing Catlog but it says I need root permission?
