psong95
Phone Model - T-Mobile Galaxy S4Howdy, Poweramp has decided to crash on me when I scroll through the song list. I've been using it for about a month with no errors until recently. I was on the stock OS when this problem occurred, I recently rooted my phone and still have the problem. (Apologies for it being sideways.)My music is being stored on a SanDisk 16GB MicroSDHC.Additional info of my phone.I think I provided all the info I got, any help would be appreciated. dvhttn
Does it crash when attempting to access the same song by any chance? The reason I ask is that I recently had a similar problem, though it wasn't with Poweramp the symptoms seem similar. Basically whenever the OS 'touched' a particular file in my Titanium Backup folder it would crash. I had to backup my sdcard, format it on the PC then reload it. Must have been some sort of card error at the point where that file was stored. A format and fsck sorted it and I haven't had any problems since. Worth a shot. psong95
Thanks for the response. So I formatted my SD card and I get "Your device may not be able to play this file." This applied to my whole music folder. I ignored it and adding them in anyway and it still freezes. I went to check if this problem would happen on other music players but it's only Poweramp that freezes.
yuuki
Well i have the same issue, i think it could be bufferoverflow, cause it works if you stop now and then.
eleriaqueen
Hi, I do have the same problem, but when using the folder view. When I scroll down fast for a moment, it crashes. I have Note 3 carrier free with 4.4.2 Kitkat.

bing
Hi, I do have the same problem, but when using the folder view. When I scroll down fast for a moment, it crashes. I have Note 3 carrier free with 4.4.2 Kitkat.I have exactly the same as eleriaqueen too. Note 3 just updated to kitkat (not rooted) whenever I'm playing music and scroll fast it crashes, not on certain songs just crashes in general. bing
Please update Poweramp. Updated but still the same problem. To be more precise to re-create the problem this is when it happens: When a song is currently playing if you scroll down the album list (have a lot of albums) if scrolling it will freeze/crash. This doesn't happen when a song is not playing. Also it happens more often when quick scrolling using the right side of the screen when going through the alphabet to get to certain artists. App is up to date, have even tried uninstalling the app along with factory resetting my note 3 (kitkat).
Darkplek
I have exactly the same problem on a fully up to date build (2.0.9-build-544-play Full Version) on my Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 with all my music stored on a 64GB SD card. When I scroll quickly (or even moderately) through the Albums library view the app will freeze then force close. It happens in both list and grid view. It wasn't a problem on Samsung's stock JellyBean rom (android 4.3), but happens since I've changed to KitKat 4.4.2 (using Cyanogenmod 11).
cupachump
I also have exactly the same problem using the same fully up to date build (2.0.9-build-544-play Full Version) on a Samsung Galaxy S4 with a Class 10 Sandisk 64gb card. Randomly crashes when scrolling the album list, but doesn't happen if I do it really slowly. The problem doesn't happen with the songs or artist lists, so I suspect it's got something to do with the album graphics? I also think it occurred about the same time as the upgrade to Kitkat, because it hasn't always happened.
johnkr
Android 4.4.2 here, build 14.3.A.0.757 on a Xperia Z1 Compact, none rooted and the latest version of Poweramp. Same problem - since my new Android version I guess. Keeps stuttering in the album list, grid view, during scrolling. Quite annoying. Hope there's a fix for this, love the app.NB. Maybe it's related to the not so long ago introduced high res album art?
D3Seeker
I too have this problem. Actually I've had this problem since I got this phone [a year come black friday] Verizon Galaxy S4. It happens to me when scrolling fast through album view. I auto update so yeah. And it only happens on the S4, not my low power value tablet nor the galaxy player 4.2 :/Verizon Galaxy S4android 4.4.2Poweramp 2.0.9 build-564-play

I have a lot of music on my phone (27gb~) which makes it annoying to try and play songs by artists near the bottom of the alphabet since it just crashes as soon as I reach them. IBD
Same problem here. Poweramp 2.0.10-build-571-play (Full Version). Nexus 5 - Android 5.0.1 In my case it crashes ( Poweramp stops and restarts automaticly) when I reach a folder called Muse. If I rename that folder, it crashes when I reach the renamed folder

jammasterjp
I am also having a similar problem. My device is a Motorola Moto G 4G (LTE) with a SanDisk SD Card. Android version 4.4.4 and Poweramp version 2.0.10-build-571-play (Full Version). When I scroll through the Library > Albums list, Poweramp crashes and displays the error "Unfortunately, Poweramp has stopped". This does not happen when I scroll through the Artists list, or when I am in Folder view. I have captured the error with logcat. Please find the log here: http://pastebin.com/TEmuRxnY I have tried the following things:- Full folder rescan- Clear album art cache- Clear app data- Reinstall app Unfortunately, none of the above troubleshooting points have resolved the error. It seems my problem is related to Album Art. If I scroll carefully through my Album list, it always crashes when I reach a certain album. I removed the album art (in the ID3 tags) for this album and then it was fine. I used a separate app to remove the album art tag data as Poweramp will crash before I cap tap the album. Some better error handling of bad tags / album art files would be useful. I have no idea how the tag/image file got corrupted - or maybe the way Poweramp parses them is just different in the newer builds?
maxmp
jammasterjpCan you please send us this track/album for tests (poweramp.maxmpz gmail.com)? This will be very helpful. Latest Poweramp versions have improved faster album art loading written in native code, but it can fail for some rare/broken files, your file sample will be helpful for fixing/working around this. Thanks! hobl
I experienced the same problem, too. Some Poweramp update introduced a bug which made it crash everytime i scrolled through the folders. I had to remove all the cover arts from the id3 tags of my whole library to circumvent the problem.
