File limit

Forgive my ignorance. I did do a cursory search. That said, I have over 40k songs in my library. What is the limit to just the shuffle all and file database to use such a feature? I'm trying to fight the brow-beating for all of those HI-FI DAPs that are flooding the market. I am currently using a OnePlus Nord N10 5G for my DAP. I don't want to waste money when I don't have to.

There is no limit to the size of the database, beyond the fact that really huge amounts of songs might cause minor performance issues. I have just under 10k songs in my library and it's fine. A Full Rescan (done when you first install the app, to populate the database with every song's tag data) takes about two minutes for me.

Poweramp offers a two-week (fully featured) trial period anyway, so plenty of time to work out if it's for you without having to pay anything.

Apples and oranges between a Smartphone and DAP. A phone is a multi-app solution, DAPs are focused solely on audio performance and remove the unnecessary things like the calling features, camera lenses, etc. They have been around for a long time though, so I wouldn't say this is a recent trend nor have they flooded the market given that the entry level models are still in the US$400+ range and the flagships are more than any smartphone.

The limit is more based on your file type and storage limits on your device or memory card. You may find that if you try to shuffle all 40k songs it could take some time to create the list and begin to play. But Poweramp handles it well for my library at 28k lossless tracks, stored on a Sandisk Extreme Pro microSD card.
