What really bothers me is the difference in bass. What just sounded good could be a total drone in the next track.

Would it be possible to implement a dynamic EQ?

What would be the criteria for this "dynamic EQ" to make the adjustments? Every track is differently mastered already. Using Replaygain you can more effectively manage the perceived output levels between tracks. But I am not clear on how an EQ can actively change based on each song.

I stole it from a website. I can't explain it very well.

"Traditionally, EQs work with fixed levels. You can cut and boost each band at different intensities depending on how you want to shape the incoming signal. The dynamic EQ, on the other hand, automates the intensity of these boosts and cuts depending on the characteristics of the input signal, including the distribution of frequency content and volume."
