Puttness
For example, almost all of my music has the art embedded along with a much higher resolution folder.jpg in each folder. Does Poweramp prioritize the higher resolution folder.jpg when I enable HD album art or does it just display the embedded art at full resolution? If possible I would like for it to display the folder.jpg and only fallback to embedded when that's not available, since I can only change to the folder.jpg on a per-track basis and can't change a whole album's worth of tracks in one fell-swoop. andrewilley
No, embedded content (of whatever size) should take priority over anything else apart from a manually downloaded and assigned image. Puttness
Interesting, maybe I'm wrong and interpreting it incorrectly but it looks like enabling folder hierarchy (or whatever "folders mode" is) will produce the result I'm looking for? Or is that just determining which of the image files in the folder gets displayed when there is no embedded? I'll probably end up just going back and embedding all of the high-res folder images, saves my phone's gallery from getting clogged up with 1k+ single photo albums anyway. andrewilley
Per-track embedded images will always take priority over other sources, as they are specifically designed to go with that song - the assumption being that otherwise they would not be there. Individual song artwork will always override any album or folder level images. You can override that manually by choosing to download a new image for that specific song if you want (which will be cached as a JPEG in the selected_aa data folder). I do agree that the process of applying new artwork to whole albums is a bit convoluted at the moment, and there's an existing votable Feature Request to improve that process (two days membership is required to place votes): Andre Link to comment https://forum.powerampapp.com/topic/28561-does-enabling-hd-album-art-also-prioritize-the-highest-resolution-art-available-between-embedded-and-image-files/#findComment-133103 Share on other sites
Puttness
That makes a lot of sense, and it's actually a feature that my previous music player didn't have that I wished it did. A good few of my albums do have varying covers depending on the track but my previous player (Blackplayer EX) would just show the primary album cover on all of them. I will say I am absolutely loving this app, I've never used a music player as good as this. Blackplayer EX was the first player I ever paid for a long time ago but it's pretty much abandoned, a blessing in disguise since it caused me to look for a new player. Thanks for all of your help, I'll go ahead and spend a few days embedding the artwork since it does have benefits. Namely I realized I don't like having a thousand albums in my gallery for all of the folder.jpgs Link to comment https://forum.powerampapp.com/topic/28561-does-enabling-hd-album-art-also-prioritize-the-highest-resolution-art-available-between-embedded-and-image-files/#findComment-133105 Share on other sites
andrewilley
@Puttness You can get some pretty decent images in very small JPEG sizes. I mostly use 600x600 or 1000x1000, and they usually only add about 100k-250k to the file size.
