Since last night, I have been experiencing an issue with Poweramp that wasn’t present before. When I select the Hi-Res Output option for my Wired Headset, the music continues to play, but there is no sound coming through the headphones. Prior to this, everything was working perfectly with the same settings.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, or does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I suspect it will be a tricky one to diagnose if the issue went away after reboots. It it comes back, the next thing to try would be different Settings=>Audio=>Output options, and/or try with and without DVC enabled.

Android 14 should be OK, but if you were using Android 15 with PA build 988 you would probably find Hi-Res has been depreciated in favour of using AAudio (which also supports increased frequency and bit-rate settings).

@andrewilley

It again started the issue. This time I am able to find what may be causing it. After reboot if I play song with Poweramp with hires output it works until I only use Poweramp app. If you switch to other app let's say Symfonium or UAPP, and then come back to Poweramp, there won't be audio.

And I am able to resolve it temporarily by switching to any other audio output and then switching back to Hi Res one.

Also if I use AAudio, where I can find bit-rate settings?

@Raalapas

As Andre said above, Settings-> Audio-> Output -> AAudio-> Wired Headset/Aux.

My device (different from yours) no longer has Hi-Res listed from the available output options, and I must use AAudio. Even though Hi-Res output method is gone, there is still an option under Settings-> Audio-> Advanced Tweaks:

Force Speaker Off (for Hi-Res Output) Enable this if speaker doesn't switch off after calls, some notifications, etc.

Worth trying before you switch over to AAudio at least? While you still have the Hi-Res output method available.

In the same menu that you would have used for Hi-Res. So in Settings=>Audio=>Output, select the output method 'AAudio' and in the list enable it for Wired Headset/AUX. Then tap the setting cogwheel next to 'Wired Headset/AUX' and you can alter the specific options for AAudio on that output device.
