FloydPepper
Hi, Long story short, I replaced my head unit after getting tired of the same issue that was reported by many. Weekly license verification issue and/or "Doesn't look like anything to me" message. Apart from the new head unit being much faster and responsive, it was worse. Daily verification issue. Had to uninstall and reinstall to solve the issue. So I decided to purchase the apk app. Now the app resets itself after each reboot. Result: Same old "Doesn't look like anything to me", no rescan unless I reinstall. Have to re-authorize, rescan for 30 minutes, etc. Rinse and repeat everyday... I strongly suspect the app to try make connection for whatever background processes or authorization. And because the head unit has no internet connection on startup it fails. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, FP Link to comment https://forum.powerampapp.com/topic/28545-car-head-unit-issue/ Share on other sites
andrewilley
All of the above sounds like your devices are unable to allow Poweramp to safely save its state when they shut down and cut the ignition power, or do not issue standard "shutdown intents", meaning that it is starting pretty-much from scratch each time you restart the car. What happens if you clearly close the app before turning the car off, perhaps even closing it from the recent apps list too? Check that restarting from such a fully closed state comes back as normal, then close it down again before turning the ignition off. As far as the licence validation goes, you need to have an internet connection - sometimes for an extended period with Play Store authentications. Check PA Settings=>About, and look for the message "Purchase Verified and Stored" before you allow any temporary internet connection to be dropped. Of course the above issue of Poweramp not being able to save its state on shutdown could cause that validation process to start again. FloydPepper
Hi Andrew, Thanks for your prompt reply. It is appreciated. I found a way to manually reboot the unit to test. It does indeed reset the app. With the Google Play version it would work for a few days and suddenly all was lost again. The APK version appears to be reset after each reboot. I will have to try other music players. Link to comment https://forum.powerampapp.com/topic/28545-car-head-unit-issue/#findComment-133092 Share on other sites
BobUK
What sort of head unit do you have, I had a problem with one that I bought cheap from Ali express. Apps would crash or freeze and some would not work at all due to compatibility issues but the main problem causing most of the issues was the lack of ram plus the cheap WiFi chip. BobUK
I also need to add that once I returned the head unit and put my hand in my pocket and cough up for a better unit I did not have any problems with any apps.
