zippydsmlee
Hopefully this is posted in the right place. I am so lost, frustrated and flabbergasted by this.(autism spec don't mess with my music) Since Google wants android to deal in tagging or metadata and not just play a file from a premade playlist, what programs will load an SD card and build the file structure and database the way android wants? So everything is ready for android, so android won't break the database trying to remake it? Heck it may be easier to make a music player that reads zip files to avoid googles tyranny... at this rate if Apple has a phone with an SD card Itunes would ix all the issues I am having... I use to have an Ipod touch. Anyway I assume to be able to read files from a playlist like my old 8.0 android phone dose, to get my current 14.0 android phone to work, I need the non play store version of power amp? I have 80gb of music, every program I have tried over the past 2 weeks have unmounted the SD card or USB drive while trying to build the music database. Sorry for the dyslexic word soup, I has a grammar. lol
andrewilley
Poweramp can handle scanning of tagged songs into its Library, and also playlists, both from internal memory and SD Card (if available). I have about 80GB of music on an SD Card, and it works fine on my Samsung Galaxy A54 phone (Android 14 with a 256GB SD Card). I put all my song files and playlists into an 'Audio' folder on the SD Card and grant access to just that folder in Poweramp's Music Folders screen and the library is populated automatically. The limitations Google is applying relate to its 'Storage Access Framework', which apps must now use on more recent versions of Android, which restrict access to certain folders and locations - e.g. you can't grant access to the Downloads folder, or to the root level of an SD Card. But other than those, it should sill allow Poweramp to access regular music content as long as the relevant Files / Documents handling apps are present (may need to download from the Play Store otherwise). Poweramp still supports the old Legacy File Access system, but Google do not permit that for Play Store downloads so you'd need to install an APK download from the website here if you want to use that. Could the last android update make scanning files more fickle? If the data rate is too slow, android just unmounts the card? Theres gota be another issue scanning the mp3 folder breaks. I used foobar to optimize files and sanitize tags. I do have a few in knaji, had one that was damaged. If unicode tags were the issue, it would not work on the IMpro 256gb card. Oh lord this got to drive you guys crazy, thank you for all the time and effort! If all else fails, I'll buy the apk version, I'll see how this goes. You may need to check your device to see if Android is killing some actions. There are apps to ensure Poweramp doesn't get killed during long scans. You shouldn't have to purchase again, website apk will just need presence of the unlocker from play store for a short time.
