Why doesn't this music player software have the "follow source frequency" function yet?

I hope this feature can be applied to all output methods. If the device itself does not support it, perform resampling again.

For example, in the picture, my phone's speaker allows direct output. But now every time I switch songs, I have to change the settings again, which is really troublesome!Screenshot_20240916-143119_Poweramp.thumb.jpg.c58fcf8608a5ff844c1ef7c335e799ad.jpgScreenshot_20240916-143123_Poweramp.thumb.jpg.b6a212d9d08dab6c540073eff8016699.jpgScreenshot_20240916-143127_Poweramp.thumb.jpg.3ff41d13bcbd4086bd48a6d3475a7d05.jpgScreenshot_20240916-142209_Neutron_Player.thumb.jpg.459c47f598e066992094b93e3dd4bdbd.jpg

Unfortunately this is just one request amongst hundreds, and it isn't even at the top of the voting list (although it is in the top ten) so I suspect there's a lot of work on other feature that will happen before this one will be looked at. And even then, it is highly unlikely to be applied to phone speakers anyway (why even bother?) and more for external DACs and high-end hardware in DAP devices.

For now, simply set your Output to the highest quality that you will need and allow Poweramp to upsample any lower quality files which should not cause any detectable audible quality loss.

And I think one of the issues is that there will be a small gap when the output is adjusted to the new source, not a big problem if you listen to a lot of tracks with the same quality but would be quite annoying listening to playlists consisting of tracks in different quality.

@6b6561 And also such features as crossfade, gapless, etc would be broken if an output change occurred between tracks.

And even if output-follows-source were to be implemented, it would still be far from the "bit perfect" mode that a few users wish for, as that would mean disabling all DSP/EQ facilities, ReplayGain, and even something as basic as being able change the playback volume as all of those tasks require manipulation of the digital bitstream.

No, at least in my experience, as long as there is resampling in the middle, the difference can be clearly felt. Even if it's not about the speaker, whether it's USB DAC output or 3.5mm headphone jack, this software can't do this now, while many similar software can do this function.

Yes, that's why I find it unbelievable that this software hasn't followed the source frequency option until now. Unless the song specifications in the playlist are standardized, the need to frequently change settings is quite frustrating.

Just gotta do what we've all done: activate SoX resampler - place your vote - listen to music anyway - wait patiently.

Android 14 introduced the lossless usb audio feature. This is bit-perfect.
At least I would like to know if developers can enable it.
As far as I know, it's a feature that is available to users as long as app developers enable it.

Sure they're related, but Poweramp's internal DSP sample rate (being fixed and not following source rate) and how the signal gets fed over USB are separate matters.
