Support for other tags

I see there is a common feature request to be able to read POPM (Popularimeter) tag where music bee stores it's ratings but I would like to be able to read ANY TAG IN A FILE. If I could add a column to my library with just entering which field name I want it to look at that would be most awesome..

I've defined 2 custom Txxxx tags in all my music SOURCEMEDIA & COUNTRYOFORIGIN  where I store the type of media I ripped the song from and the country from which the band originates

I use these on my computer with smart playlist functions in music bee to for example get a live playlist of all my Canadian music or a live playlist of all my 45s..

I've never found an android player that could read them is my problem.

Granted I am new to power amp and have tested less than 1 hour but if you had Smart playlists (a frequently requested feature) and this i would be all over this.

I'm on rocket player prior to this and though for some reason mine doesn't seem to be as negatively hit from the developer turmoil as some paid peoples is I want out before it does get bad.

The problem with reading every potential tag in all audio files is the huge hit it could have on the size of the library database, especially with larger music collections, and the corresponding drop in performance. And I'm not sure how you would expect to display and use these extra tags - although the feature request to customise the Title and Artist/Album lines would go some way to addressing this.

Have a look at the Feature Request voting system, where there are several items that would help with your suggestions. https://forum.powerampapp.com/ideas/?mode=popular

@Evileyeball if you can create your preferred playlists on a pc then save them as .m3u and copy them to your android device.

Poweramp can pick this up provided

1. the tracks actually exist

2. the tracks are in the same named folder on your device.

3. Poweramp can scan the folder.

4. Poweramp will recreate an internal playlist after which you can delete the .m3u

Poweramp looks at the final folder name and trackname, the rest is not important.

Music Playlist Manager can import "foreign" playlists and will only use the track name to rebuild a new playlist that will play on your device

That won't happen automatically. It will still be treated as an external M3U playlist file, which will be re-read if the M3U file changes and the file will be updated if you make any modifications in Poweramp. Deleting the file will remove the playlist entry (especially if you do a Full Rescan).

Best way to convert within Poweramp is to multi-select all the songs from the M3U playlist, do '+Playlist' and create a new internal playlist with the same songs. Then you can remove the original M3U file.

Trying to follow these instructions, but when I select the M3U playlist all the songs are blackened out because the M3U points to folders on my PC instead of on my phone.  I can still select all the songs on it but when I then create a new playlist it is empty.

Not sure what this has to do with the subject of this thread (POPM and user-defined tags?)

What are you trying to do exactly, use an M3U playlist file in Poweramp? If so, the filenames and final level of folder naming must be the same as the naming on your PC for the playlist to work. The earlier details, which are device specific (such as "C:\Users\yourname\Music") are ignored.
