track skipping when pressing play

for a few days now i have started noticing that if i listen to a song, pause it (let's say in the middle of the track) and come back to it later, clicking play skips to the next song. very frustrating, no idea why this keeps happening. i've noticed Poweramp misbehaving when i have very little storage left so i started cleaning up my phone, but it doesn't seem to be of any help.

Sounds like the app was not allowed to exit cleanly and save its state when you last closed it. Otherwise, if you pause and exit cleanly (or even reboot your device) you should be able to return to the same point later.

This is an issue we often see with Android car headunits, which have a nasty habit of simply cutting the power when the ignition is turned off, which does not allow for a clean shutdown.

most of the time it's because i click on a youtube video, usually it simply pauses the track and i can resume it anytime. this used to not be a problem. any idea what i could do?

Have you tried pausing playback manually before starting another media app?
