In the meantime, you may find that enabling Settings=>Look and Feel=>Start at Library goes part of the way to solving your problem. There will of course always be some 'top' level where the Back buttons exits the app back to the Home screen, as that is standard Android behaviour. Some apps provide a warning prompt before exiting, but as PA remains functional in the background and can be restarted with a tap anyway, it doesn't really seem necessary in this case.

When I enable the start at library option and use the back action from the player nothing at all happens when I press back. When I disable the option it exits the app. Any idea what's going on there? My expectation is that enabled thst the back action will take me to the library using back from the player. Instead I have to swipe the player down.

@eldal with 'Start at Library' enabled, pressing Back on the Player Screen should behave the same way as tapping on the album artwork. It should take you to the currently playing song list. To exit the app, you need to press Back at the top level library view.

You seem to be using the custom 'back' swipe gesture by swiping in from the left? What happens if you use the regular Android 'Back' button (i.e. from the three normal Recents|Home|Back options at the bottom of an Android device screen). Swiping could be conflicting with the normal screen-swipe operations that Poweramp offers.

[Edit] I've just tested using Swipe Navigation, and you are correct that left/right swipes to generate a 'Back' function do not seem to work from the Player Screen when PA is in 'Start at Library' mode. They still work in the Library screens, and they work everywhere (Player Screen and Library) when the 'Start at Library' mode is disabled.

I'll move this conversation to Bug Reports.
