Reset Image Cache seemingly does nothing.

The button inside of Poweramp to reset the image cache seemingly does nothing. I have albums with track by track artwork that I accidentally set one universal image for, and cannot fix. Poweramp recognizes the embedded album arts when using the picker, but as is intended behavior, selecting one will just change all of them to that one. I attempted to reset the image cache, but it didn't work. A full re-scan also seemingly did nothing, even after deleting the files and re-adding them. I had to access the cache myself and delete them from there.

Hey there! That image cache reset in Poweramp seems like a bit of a mystery. It sounds like you accidentally set one image for a whole bunch of albums with their own artwork. Bummer!

Here's the thing: I've seen some folks say that resetting the cache doesn't always work as expected. You mentioned having to dig into the cache yourself to delete the images, which sounds like the way to go in this case.

For future reference, a full re-scan might not be enough if the bad image is stuck in the cache. But deleting the files and re-adding them should have done the trick! Glad you got it sorted out.

A Full Rescan only scans the music files, it does not update (or remove) any previously downloaded cover artwork from the cache storage.

Settings=>Album Art=>Delete Cache should remove any downloaded image files from the cache folders though - i.e. from the subfolders in Android/data/com.maxmpz.audioplayer/ . Of course if you have the auto-download option enabled, covers will get repopulated for anything that does not have embedded artwork.

Yes, I did use the Delete Cache option, but it did not change anything. I had to go to the folder and manually delete them there, where it was still full.

Also, I do have embedded album artwork, so auto-download is a no go.

Going to the folder with the cache is a bit of a PITA on Android 14, since with the introduction of 13, Google attempted to restrict people from accessing the Android/data folder, but I managed with Shizuku.

You can still access the Android/data hierarchy via USB cable from a PC, even after Google's ridiculous locking down, without needing to use Shizuku. But it's a pain to have to do either.

However 'Delete Cache' should work to remove the contents of the cache folders, I just tried it on my second device and it worked exactly as expected. Is it possible you updated your system at some point but might have imported settings, as the path for the cache used to be different a few years ago (there used to be an underscore prefix to com.maxmpz.audioplayer). Just clutching at straws really as I can't think of any other reasons why it would be possible to set new cover artwork but not remove the cache.

Very strange then. Using Settings=>Album Art=>Delete Cache should prompt you first, and then delete any image files found in the Android/data/com.maxmpz.audioplayer/files/ subfolders.

Try a test of creating a new cached image file by (for example) choosing a new image for an Artist and then check that the new picture file has been saved into the expected selected_artist subfolder.
