Poweramp automatically added a semicolon to the end of some songs' names

Recommended Posts

Poweramp automatically added a semicolon to the end of some songs' names. The songs are now showing up as a separate album with the same cover as the original and the same title but with a semicolon and same artist but with a semicolon..

All the songs are from the same album and have the same metadata beside title and track number. It's only 10 songs out of the album. I've tried changing bits of the metadata but no luck.

Your image seems to show only the album name with an added semicolon, but this is happening with Artist and Title tags too?

With the Artist tag (and some others), null characters (i.e. a byte value of zero) are used as separators to indicate there is more than one artist associated with a track (for duets, featuring other artists, etc) and a semicolon is inserted between them for display purposes. I wonder if any if your problem tags have invalid zero bytes at the end of the strings? Would need to see an example file or two for checking though.

@p_o_o_g Poweramp build? Build-957 includes support for non-standard multiple null-separated id3v2 values without BOM. If it doesn’t work for you in build-957 - please share the track with gpmaxmpz@gmail.com for tests. Thanks!
