masoudltf
I want to listen my favorite podcasts in Poweramp. Is there any solution?
andrewilley
Yes, just download them to your phone and choose that folder in Poweramp. To automate that, I use Podcast Addict for downloading new releases. The default folder it uses isn't ideal for scanning by other apps, so I also use Folder Sync to regularly move any downloaded MP3s to Podcast subfolders in my nornal music folder. I expect there's a podcatcher app which allows users to define specific download folders for each show, but what I'm currently doing works for me so I've not bothered looking any further. cookedcode
I second this request to enable Poweramp to take an RSS feed; display and play the podcasts from the feed without having to resort to a third party app to download.... andrewilley
@cookedcode That's not really the aim of a music player. Andre
cookedcode
they play music on podcasts. I don't see the problem. Edited Saturday at 10:30 PM by cookedcode
andrewilley Posted yesterday at 08:02 AM Share Posted yesterday at 08:02 AM They play music in supermarkets, but Poweramp is not going to turn into a home shopping app either. Podcasts and Audiobooks are not Poweramp's target market - although if you do happen to have some on your device, PA can play them in the same as any other audio file. Andre Well, the people that pay for the app disagree.
andrewilley
@cookedcode I explained to the other user who asked about this a year and a half ago how to download podcasts and then listen to them in Poweramp. I do it myself, and it works very well. But as I said before, Poweramp is not a podcatcher app, nor an audio file downloader of any sort, it is a local music player. 6b6561
Just add it as a votable feature and if there is enough votes, then this could probably be a feature pack... Personally I'm also having a hard time to see why this would be a feature of a music player developed for local content.
andrewilley
As @cookedcode 's request from yesterday is (to the best of my knowledge) the first and only time anyone has asked for PA to include a podcatching mode to monitor and play RSS feeds, it's not really suitable for adding to the Frequently Requested Features Voting list. Especially as there are lots of perfectly workable solutions out there already. Sorry. Andre

Are streams also local content? I used the Streams with iHeartRadio which plays news content - that's not music.
andrewilley
Streams of specific online radio stations by their Shoutcast URLs are a feature yes. You can't see indexes of them though, but if you know the exact URL of any given podcast file then you could link to it that way. For example this ought to work if added to PA as a Streaming URL to a podcast: https://podcasts.captivate.fm/media/45c5033a-b6b3-454f-bbb5-8a6778f2ffa0/POD-320-audio-converted.mp3 But why not make your life easier and use a dedicated podcast downloader to do the job for you, with pretty graphical indexes and all, and then you can use Poweramp to play the files once they've been grabbed if you want. In the same way that PA won't show you an index of streamable radio stations on the internet, it also won't show you an index of available podcasts either. So unless the dev decides that this is a vital deal-breaking feature that Poweramp users (sorry, user) need then I can't really see it happening. Sorry. 6b6561
I missed the RSS part, so if we translate this in to a user story it would go something like: As a user I would like to be able to add podcast RSS urls to Poweramp and play the podcast I select in Poweramp. Example of a RSS feed for a podcast https://media.rss.com/iq-test/feed.xml this is just a random feed that I got when I searched for "test" on a podcast RSS search engine. Implementing the initial user story should be relatively simple... copy&paste the stream category code... display the RSS page and let the user hit play... but this is opening up the famous can of worms... next there will be request for monitoring the RSS feeds for updates, notifications... this stream doesn't play... IMHO this is like adding streaming from DLNA, cloud, SMB and all of those already have a lot of requests. And as Andre said, this is the first time that this request pops up so I would suppose that it's quite far down on the priority list.
