Poweramp steals the focus from other source

Sometimes I have 2 running applications that make use of the audio system in my Samsung  A52. I make use of my earbuds, which have a feature to start and stop the  player by tapping on the side of the bud.  I expect that resuming play with another tap should return control to the most recently used player, but for some reason Power amp seems to take the focus even if it wasn't the most recently used player.  I've noticed this problem for a few weeks intermittently.   My operating system is Android 12.   The build on power amp is 945.
