Poweramp refuses to play my MPD stream for more than half a second

As the title says. This same stream works perfectly in other players such as foobar, VLC etc but gives me the 'Failed to play' error message in Poweramp. Sometimes it will play the audio for a moment and then immediately fail. 

Really hoping I can get this working as it would be amazing to use Poweramp's features while streaming FLAC from the MPD server! Any idea what's wrong?

Are you talking about a local MPD stream created yourself on your LAN, or is there a URL that can be tested? PA does support shoutcast-style streaming from HTTP URLs, so those ought to work.

local MPD stream. I tried adding the stream manually, and also running it through MAFA with Poweramp as the internal player, MAFA being the app I'm using to control the MPD server. again, both of these options seem to work perfectly when using foobar or vlc
