Chromebook Chrome OS stopped recognizing WMA files May 2021

I have really enjoyed my new Chromebook (Jan '21) and Poweramp.  Everything worked seamlessly until about a month ago.  Now, I am unable to play wma files (my entire library) and I am unable to change the default to Poweramp.  It might be related to a recent Chrome OS update in the same timeframe.  If anyone else has experienced this and has discovered a fix, I would really appreciate your advice. Thank you.
