Poweramp builds 899-905

I have a problem with the composers tag splitting. Despite the tags being splitted, PA stills unifies them under one string. Yo can see it on the screenshots below.

Another thing I'm quering about is the artists tags. As far as I've got it, currently performer or guest artists tags (in Vorbis) are not supported?

Correct. PA reads the Artist name from ID3's TPE1 or Vorbis's ARTIST tag, and the Album Artist name from ID3's TPE2 or Vorbis's ALBUMARTIST. Vorbis allows for multiple instances of the same tag name, and they are treated equally. Tags such as TPE3, TPE4, etc are not read.

Looks like your Composer tags are possibly separated by carriage returns, which you can't use as a Separator Symbol in PA. Would need to see the actual file to be sure though - is it a FLAC with Vorbis tags, or M4A format as another file was showing in your underlying list.

Yes, I also thought about carriage returns, however the semicolon is actually used.

@NickIst Both files contain separate COMPOSER tags, one tag for each name - among a number of obscure tags that will be rarely seen outside of a specialist tag viewer:

The FLAC version works correctly, but the M4A seems to generate that odd multi-line view in the PA Info/Tags screen, and it doesn't separate the Composer names correctly (instead concatenating them). Maybe something for Max to take a look at?

I understand that the Poweramp Equaliser 898 is to access streaming and other services but is there a tutorial for making it the default to Poweramp 905?

Any help appreciated regards.

I think you are asking how to use PEQ instead of Poweramp's own built in EQ? You can enable equalization through Poweramp EQ app for Poweramp easily. Just enable MusicFX option in PA (settings > audio > advanced tweaks), and disable DVC in Poweramp (as both app's DVC would conflict).

Device: Huawei Mate 30

System: Android 10, EMUI11.0.0

Recently I've updated Poweramp to the latest version and I find myself some surprises. The interface looks much better. What's more, with the new Aaudio Output, I can Eventually have a taste of DVC, which was unable to function together with OPENSL ES Hi-Res Output and which really improves the sound field and ranges. (It's hard to imagine that I have never used DVC ever since my first-time use of Poweramp back in 2012 or sooner)

However, the sample format of Aaudio is locked in 16bit (with no float32) and now it seems like I am trading 24bit in ES Hi-Res for DVC in Aaudio. It's a decent trade, indeed, but I wonder if there's a chance to have the best of both World?

P.S.

I know the EMUI is kind of buggy, having many problems in its rom or something, so I don't have much hope in solutions.

@Romain1998 Poweramp follows system here, ensure you have ldac working for 96khz.

@maxmp I didn't precise it, but when the sample rate resets itself to 48 khz (for instance, when Poweramp is not playing any sound, working in background and then used again), the volume also automatically and drastically increases and decreases up until I pick another sample rate in the app.

Sometimes, when I forget about it and I'm using my headphones, it catches me by surprise and hurts my ears. Please, could you do something about this? It's really irritating.

@Romain1998 I use task management tools. Bixby Routines free on Samsung devices is handy, you can set it to apply certain volume levels when you connect a specific Bluetooth device, and set them back again afterwards.

@andrewilley Right, thanks for the tip, but can you fix it?

@Romain1998 sorry, I though the issue was the sample rate. Now it's something related to the volume? Poweramp may change volume slightly (+/- 1) for few seconds after the BT connection if "No DVC For Absolute Volume" option is enabled. This is never more than +/-1 and not generally noticeable. There is no other way to check for the Absolute Volume as Google bugged everything related to it in the recent androids (looks like new team works on BT stack and they just keep everything they don't use/test in broken state), but if you know you have Absolute Volume disabled, you can just disable option "No DVC For Absolute Volume" to avoid any volume changes. Android still will restore some previous volume for the Bluetooth + the BT device may also have some other volume level.

@maxmp Actually, it's when the Bluetooth Hi-Res output sample rate resets itself to 48 khz that the volume also starts to automatically change. This makes the issue even more annoying. I don't think it's related to the DVC though, since I don't have it activated.

Errrr... Is it somehow possible in some incredulously way for it?

SG S7 Flat

I have a problem in 905 making playlists. I keep getting duplicate entries. I can replicate every time.

I went to a specific genre and selected "all songs" and picked the first song to play, hold song artwork of current playing song or any song in current playing list and choose "add to playlist" and i created a new playlist. Any song i add from the current playing list to this new playlist duplicates 3-5 entries. If i browse anywhere in my library outside of the current playing list and add to this playlist it only adds one entry. Go back to the current playing list of songs and add any from this list results in duplicate entries every time.

button not responding when lock screen triggered(screen off).

pressing twice the button on wired headset when screen is off tends to pause only the current song. pressing once does not do anything. thrice only pause then immediately playing the song. this problem was not present on PA earlier version.

tried the fresh installation seems cannot solve the problem.

i'm using PA 905 uni.

stock rom, not rooted.

Asus Device running android 9.0

I had the same problem Sunday and Monday and I was going to post the same thing, however today it was working like it should. Not sure why, must be a bug. Running Android 11, Sony Xperia 5 II.

Also does Poweramp not read embedded Ratings? I was Rating songs using Poweramp on my last device and I upgraded my phone this week. I tried exporting and importing settings but it just kept crashing Poweramp up each time I tried. So I can't do that and it really sucks Poweramp didn't embed them. I tried embedding a few in my tag program but Poweramp won't read them? I really don't want to rate 13,000+ songs in Poweramp only to lose them again next time i upgrade or break my device.

PA still does not read or write ratings to tags. You can export them as part of a Playlist though (create one with all your songs) and then re-import them the same way.

The New Playlist Manager app can import/export ratings to files too.

So i have to make a playlist with all 13,000+ songs on my old phone, then export the playlist to my SD card so i can import on the new phone? What happens if my old phone is dead/lost? I'm SOL?

I mean, I have all of my Poweramp selected images backed up because i add them from the PC when i add music, but then the only way to back up your ratings is: every time you change/add a rating, you then have to make sure that song is on a playlist and export a backup of the playlist(s) to an external file? That's asking a lot to constantly do/remember. Losing your preferences/settings of the app is one thing, but losing your entire music library ratings is a whole 'nother level of ****ery.

I'm sure "Poweramp reads/writes embedded ratings" is already a feature request. But it seems necessary for simplicity and if you don't want to risk losing a lot of vested time. Or if that's complicated maybe Poweramp could at least auto-save the ratings to an external playlist/xml type file on your sd card each time you update/add a rating to a song.

I'm sure "Poweramp reads/writes embedded ratings" is already a feature request.

Creating a 'whole library' is pretty easy - go into the All Songs category > long-press any song > Select 'All' > Add to Playlist. But yes, it's a hassle to have to keep remembering to do that regularly just to backup your ratings.

'On the fly' saving of ratings changes back to music files has been a request for as long as I can remember, and yes there are a lot of Feature Request threads about it. I do agree that there needs to be some kind of fully-automated option for saving ratings directly back into capable files after any change is made though, as having to remember to perform a manual backup task periodically is too much to ask of users. Same applies to manually selecting cover artwork too, there should be a tickbox to embed the new image directly into the audio file if the user wants to do that (with some suitable potential issues warning wording obviously).

Max mentioned last July that he has plans to implement something, but I don't know the current timescale for implementing that.

I've broken my Poweramp (905) full installation 😞

A week ago it was working brilliant with AndroidAuto (Redmi 9, Android 10). Then something happened... I think there were some apps updated but I'm not sure.

Anyway the problem is it won't auto advance to the next track be that in an album of via Shuffle. If I click on advance then it WILL go to the next track and play correctly but not automatically. I mean if I say play the first track in an album then, before, it would play each track in turn. Now I have to goto next track after each one is played 😞

I've done two full rescans and also rebooted the phone but it's still doing this.

Please can someone tell me what I've done wrong and how to fix?

Thanks

steve

Sounds like you have changed the Repeat icon setting, in the main player screen. Tap the icon to cycle it round to 'Advance Category'.

Something related to AA might have really been introduced in the latest builds. I have just posted another bugreport (build 901):

Would someone confirm this?
