Mayuri
If anyone could spend the time to explain with details exactly what Direct Volume Control is and how it works, what benefits (and cons, if any) it has, would be grateful. The only difference I really hear is: it's louder, and for some reason when it's enabled, when I increase volume, instead of just increasing volume, it goes a bit quieter for a bit, and then goes up, or smth like that (kinda annoying). andrewilley
Direct Volume Control merely means Poweramp bypasses a lot of the Android/manufacturer added audio processing code and gets cleaner access to the hardware and better dynamic range. This may result in higher volume on many devices, but that's not the main goal. Some devices support it in certain of the high-res modes only - so for example 384kHz on Samsung devices often needs DVC disabling. The stepping/jumping is probably caused by the number of system volume steps. Have a look in PA Settings > Audio > Advanced Tweaks > Volume Levels and try a non-default value. I had to disable DVC because the jumping is very annoying. But if it helps with dynamic range, I guess I should want it on, especially considering I use EQ.. :/
Raindr0p91
hello, I would like to understand if the absolute volume for BT is active, or if the DVC is deactivated automatically,?. I ask this, because it seems to me that it is still functional, even if the absolute volume is activated ...
maxmp
@Raindr0p91 DVC should be disabled if Absolute Volume is in effect. Poweramp tries to detect that and disables DVC via No DVC For Absolute Volume option.
Raindr0p91
if I force the option, and do not select the option "no dvc with absolute volume", does DVC remain active together with the absolute volume?
maxmp
@Raindr0p91 yes, it will be active and you may hear very low volume sound in some cases, or any bass amplification will easily overload output.
3011macho
Hello,I want to disable dvc for all outputs,if I disable dvc in general settings -audio-direct volume control, it will disable dvc for all outputs, bluetooth, speker ..? Or I must disable dvc in every otput settings ?
andrewilley
Just disable the main switch in Settings=>Audio=>DVC, that will turn it off for all Output methods. Andre

Tairun
@andrewilley After latest android update DVC kills my volume so it is better to be turned off. This issue was the reason I found this topic
andrewilley
@Tairun You haven't said anything about your device, Android version, setup, or even what output device you are using, so it's hard to offer any advice. Andre
