Track info showing up as questions marks

I bought a Hiby R6 (running Android 8.1) and installed Poweramp on there. Most of my songs displayed the right track information (edited on MusicBee) but I have some songs that show up as ??? for the artist and song title.

Just wondering what is the issue here? All the songs showed up fine on MusicBee

I'm guessing there is something wrong with the reading or character-set encoding of the tags. Have you tried re-saving the files using a PC tag editor such as TagScanner or MP3Tag? Also try a Full Rescan in Poweramp.

I've not seen PA show "???" before though, it normally shows a blank space in the Info/Tags screen, and within lists it shows the filename as the track title and displays Unknown Album / Unknown Artist.

Could you upload a sample of a file which causes this?

Have tried to do this with TagScanner but still the same issue, also tried full rescan as well.

The songs with the ??? issue are Chinese songs but only a subset of them have this issue as the rest of my Chinese songs are all displayed correctly.

Have posted a dropbox link below on a file with this issue

Yes, the tag encoding (listed as UTF-16) seems incorrect in some way, which prevents even the embedded cover image from loading. Making a minor edit and re-writing with MP3tag resolves it, although TagScanner does not:

I tried forcing Tag Encoding in PA to Chinese Traditional (Big5), Chinese Simplified (GB2312), and Chinese Simplified (GBK) but none made a difference - presumably as the file says that it is Unicode, so the fall-back option does not kick in.
