Poweramp is extremely slow, for me.

Recommended Posts

The app seems to be having a number of problems, which all boil down to it being very slow. It can start from the last song I played, via the widget on my home screen. But when I press the menu button, to see other albums/songs, there's a spinning wheel in the top right corner, none of the buttons work.

So eventually that button works, and I can see my albums, but that spinning wheel is still there, and I can't click on any of the albums, and there's no album art either. It's as if Poweramp can't access the data on my phone. Eventually it comes right, and I am able to put on an album to listen to. But as soon as it ends, and I am ready to put on another, it's back to its old tricks.

Edit: it's a Samsung J5 Pro on Android 9.

And the Poweramp version is V3, build 849.

For anyone to be able to help you need to post what device and android version you are using. Also the version of Poweramp. Have you tried to revert to an earlier version and see if the issue persists? Anything else you tried to resolve it?

That information has been added in. And I'll try reverting as soon as i work out how.

Well, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my phone, and installing an app that frees up ram. Though I am skeptical of those apps.

It might also be worth removing and reformatting your SD Card then copy all the contents back,  in case the card is reading slowly (PA does rather hammer file system access).

You can get an earlier version of Poweramp on this site.  You will need to uninstall the current version which you have not stated. Downgrading without uninstall wiill not work.

Then it's something about your device, as if you went back to v2 all PA settings would have been reset to default anyway. Try reformatting the SD Card and copy everything back via a PC.
