6b6561
PA streams the audio as PCM after applying it's magic to your flac, mp3, ... files. HiFi cast acts just as a server and only streams the compressed file directly to the Chromecast. This means first of all that PA processes the file and then the stream is significantly larger than steaming a compressed file.
Gary Quiring
I installed Pulsar about an hour ago. Been listening to the same music on the Pixel 4a and so far not a single pause.
Gary Quiring
I installed the Pulsar player which works perfectly on the same music and Chromecast audio device. I switched back and forth a few times and in every case Poweramp paused and Pulsar never had an issue. So I guess the Poweramp developers are not listening. And FYI, Pulsar is much easier to use. Featured Comment maxmp Posted December 29, 2020 Featured Comment Share Posted December 29, 2020 I guess Poweramp doesn’t get enough cpu quants in background mode on your device. Add Poweramp to your battery/background optimization exceptions list/disable background optimizations for it. (The exact procedure depends on phone model/Android version). Battery optimizers can see app uses network in background, but don't understand music is playing limiting Poweramp processing quant to almost zero. Pixels: Long press Poweramp / (i) / Battery / Background restriction - App can use.., Battery optimization / (select All apps on top) / Poweramp / Don't optimize. Samsung (Android 8😞 system Settings / Apps / Poweramp / Battery / Optimize battery usage / (select All apps on top) / Poweramp / switch OFF Samsung Android 9/10/11: Long press Poweramp / (i) / Battery / Optimize battery usage / (select All apps on top) / search Poweramp / switch OFF

GeilerHeinz
I experienced audio stuttering and playback cut-offs also for a long time. After changing the sample rate in the chromecast settings to 44.1 khz the problems seem to be solved. All my chromecast speakers and the android device are connected to the 5 ghz wifi.
